==About The Ajah==

"...Whites consider the questions of truth with implacable logic." ({{tdr|23}}) In the Wheel of Time Series, the White Ajah is solely devoted to questions of philosophy and truth, while shunning the world and the value of worldly knowledge. This stereotype is a difficult one to overcome -- that of a cold and unfeeling woman who sees only the absolute. The Sisters and Accepted of the White at TarValon.net do it with flying colors! We are a diverse group of women who are warriors, lovers, peace-makers, seekers, crusaders, healers and above all, sisters. In all our endeavors we strive to let logic and reason guide us, to acknowledge and enjoy our passions without letting them rule us. We strive to bring both common sense and laughter everywhere we go, often causing those around us to go tilt their heads in confusion. This is the way we like it. ==Overview==
The Amyrlin Seat is our Chief Executive Officer
===Chain of Command===
The Amyrlin Seat reports to the Board of Directors

The {{Keeper}}, {{Shatayan}} and {{Archivist}} report to the Amyrlin Seat

==Duties and Responsibilities==
* Providing cohesive leadership for the organization as a whole (goal setting, making sure all parts are working together towards the same objectives, and that those objectives serve our mission statement and organizational health. Communicating these goals effectively across the community up, down and sideways), keeping perspective and vision
* Creating and stewarding our culture (decision making that profoundly affects how members interact, promoting a culture of cooperation and personal investment, helping members to grow relationships with one another). This is the single most influential position when it comes to how the community "feels."
* Team building among our volunteers and throughout the community
* Management of resources (yes, this includes budget, but also includes human resources and time resources... are the projects we're working on the ones we should be working on? What is the cost/benefit and is it worth it? When do we put our efforts towards a new solution, and when do we pull the plug on something that hasn't worked?)
* Liaison between the Board of Directors and Officers/Executives (as the position is now being seperated from my position on the Board, the CEO will need to serve as the major communicator between the Board and community management; this position will not be a member of the Board, but will be the position that most works with them. Currently, Board Meetings are held approx every quarter on the first Monday evening of the month (9pm EST, via Skype), but frequency can and has changed according to need.
* Being the public face of TarValon.Net (officiating ceremonies, special awards and recognition, master of ceremonies, event host, developing relationships that benefit the organization, shaking hands, kissing babies, etc.)
==Requirements==
* At least 5 years as an active member of TarValon.Net
* At least 3 of those years must be spent as a Senior Member (total time, does not necessarily have to be continuious)
* At least 1 year serving in the Department of Membership (HoA, CC, MoN, MoA, CoR, CoS, Director, etc.), or an Administrator or higher in another department
* Be a member in good standing, and at least 21 years of age
====Non Essential Requirements====
* Active participation in any Administrative Role
* Active participation in more than one department over their time as a member
* Time served in the Hall
* Ability to attend events with some regularity (the Amyrlin is not required to attend all of them, but some travel is required of this position)
==History==
On the formation of TarValon.Net and the decision to expand beyond the initial Blue and Green Ajahs, it was decided that {{Eleyan}} would be Amyrlin. After ten years, she decided to retire and the position was advertised. As this was such an essential role for the community that interacted with so many others, rather than the successful applicant taking over immediately, there was a period of transition, of around a year, where the presumptive Amyrlin was known as the Amyrlin Elect, or Trainee Amyrlin.

When I first entered the Tower as a Novice, the Guesting system was just starting to get set up. I'm glad it did. I made a point of spending at least two weeks with each Ajah. Some I spent a little more time with than others. Ultimately, when I guested with the White Ajah it just felt like home. I enjoy the connections with the book Whites (logic and philosophy), but also the fact that we are diverse and bring our perspectives together in ways that help unify, rather than divide, us.

*'''Are you like the Whites in the Books? Are you a logical woman with no time for emotion in her life?''' 
Of course not. Having no emotion isn't logical. :-) Emotions help guide our decisions. Logic helps balance those decisions.

Honestly, no. I rarely pay attention to what Ajah Aes Sedai belong to.

*'''How long have you been a fan of the Wheel of Time series?''' 
Since around 1991

*'''How did you first get into the series?''' 
I had a dungeon master who incorporated a number of aspects from the books into his system for Dungeons and Dragons. In fact, my character turned out to be a Wolf Sister! I asked him where these ideas came from, and he told me about the series. I picked up Eye of the World and was hooked!

*'''Who is your favorite "hero"?''' 
Depends on the book and storyline. Also might depend on who is included in the "hero" category. Faile and Aviendha are probably the tow that I have really enjoyed most consistently. There are some "lesser" characters that I like a lot: Bashere, Rhuarc, Birgitte, Flinn...

*'''Favorite bad guy/gal?''' 
Meh. I know they're a necessary part of the books, but I usually find them all annoying because they're petty and obnoxious. Ishamael was extra annoying, but Moridin is pretty awesome.

The Shadow Rising is probably my favorite of the books. Learning more about the Aiel and the related events really was fascinating. Really cool revelation. Favorite scene is much more difficult. Maybe the scene where Rand and Nynaeve cleanse the taint from Saidin.

*'''If you were set down in Randland, who/what would you see yourself as? An Aes Sedai? Innkeeper? Seanchan Captain?''' 
Saldaean. Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. But I would probably be out and about helping Reds with men who can channel and similar things. I wouldn't just be waiting for the Last Battle. Hopefully, I'd be good at Healing, too, since I like to help people, but don't want to dedicate my life to it.

I was doing a search for information on the Wheel of Time. I'm not sure what. It was a long time ago. I came upon the site, started discussing the books with people, and decided that I wanted to be an Aes Sedai, and that I wanted to earn the title as you have to do on this site.

Currently unemployed, but I am going to school for a Masters degree in Criminal Justice: Homeland Security.

I used to. :scratch I love music. I love dancing. I used to do belly dancing until my back was injured in a car accident. I enjoy making handmade cards using stamps and whatnot. I enjoy sewing sometimes. I love horses and horse racing. Nevertheless I seem to always just be on the computer. Oh! I play World of Warcraft.

Traditional Irish and other Celtic music, bits and pieces of almost every category of music except heavy metal and jazz. I wanted to be a thoroughbred horse racing jockey. Not so much at 5'7" and 130 lbs. :-(

Yes! A wonderful old dog, called Finnagen. He was rescued from a home where he was horribly neglected. He is now a a fat and happy ol' American Bulldog.

Born April 2, 1971 in Annapolis, MD Raised in Virginia, Massachusetts and Connecticut. College in VA Moved back to Massachusetts. Played Dungeons and Dragons in college. Somehow got a degree in Communications. Spent lots of time in Irish pubs in Boston for the following 5 years; not drinking, playing with Irish musicians. Moved to Maryland and taught high school for 3 years. Loved the students. The "grown ups" sucked. Worked and lived at Pimlico Racetrack for 2 years, taking care of the racehorses. (It was a toss-up between this and signing on as a crewmember fo the sailing ship, The Bounty.) If I could have made my living at it, I'd have stayed. Major loss in salary and ability to keep up with technology, but totally worth it. Worked for an odd little IT company for 4 years. Now going through an online university for a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. Always loved horses. Did a lot of riding in my teens and in college. Little time for it after that, sadly. Had the sweetest dog in the word from 1989 to 1998. 9 sweet years. I still miss her. I am living with my boyfriend and our rescue dog, Finnagen. Meanwhile, I volunteer at the Baltimore Humane Society, working with the dogs. I am currently reading the Bible. (That sentence should be good for a loooong time, since it's taking me ages to make progress.)
