If you've been in chat at all since the founding of SDS, you'll have noticed that we use the greeting “Sabe” quite a bit. This comes from the sci-fi series ''Ender's Game''. While in battle school, children were taught some Portugese / Brazilian, and “Sabe” – pronounced sah-BEE – was one of the slang words that they learned, which meant “You understand?” – it was also a greeting, which is what we use it as today.

Of the four companies, the San d'ma Shadar are known as the 'muscle' of the White Tower. This is an oversimplification of an important characteristic lying just beneath the surface... survival. The members are the survivors: the jack-of-all-trades, master of none. They adapt and do what must be done to complete the task at hand, whether it be organizing others for an offensive or protecting one's loved ones from harm. All this must be accomplished by utilizing what is readily available to its fullest potential. We are the Slayers of the Shadow!<br>

I am a member of San d’ma Shadar. I have chosen to become a member of an elite company and as such intend to uphold the ideals and carry on the spirit of a unique brotherhood. I have pledged to follow the Amyrlin Seat and those persons whom she sees fit to place in positions above me, remembering always to acquit myself with Loyalty, Honor, Duty, Truth, Courage, Justice, Prowess, and Franchise.

*I have no ties that are not bound by loyalty.
*I have no life without honor.
*I am bound to family, country, and Tower with duty.

As with any group of people, our lives lead us in many different directions. Members of SDS come from all walks of life and enjoy many different things, from explosion coordination to website design to practicing law and many other professions. Some of us have Masters degrees and some of us are unemployed. Many of us have had careers in the military. Our ages range from 20 to the mid-50s, but we are all brothers in life. We support each other when support is needed, and give each other a slap in the face if we need to wake up and realize what's going on around us. We are always there for each other, but at the same time we lead our own individual lives.

   In July and August of 2011, a class on SDS was taught in the classroom by Jeffan. In one of the lessons, the class was asked to write a funny (PG-13) story about anything, but it must involve three of the following: Tequila, blow-up dolls, fair maidens, nuclear explosions, party hats, tubes, picnic tables, chicken, bragging, shameless flirting, magnificent tracks of land, calvary, rainbows, honey, The Second Amendment, PETA, Coca-Cola, Frat Boys & Corsets.

   As you can imagine, there were many great responses, and we decided to highlight a few here for your enjoyment!

Bio: Anigrel joined the site in October 2005. After a ‘brief’ absence due to RL getting in the way, he joined the Tower in April 2011. He was raised to Gaidin in 2008 and since then has held a seat on The Warder Council on two separate occasions. At 8th Anni Party, February 2009, he had the two distinct honors of being bonded live to Murasaki al’Aevon of the Blue Ajah and also won the title Blademaster in the Amyrlin’s Tournament.

In RL Jeremy was a U.S. Marine and now attends Zion Bibe College, majoring in Pastoral Ministries. He was married in August 2011 to a wonderful woman that inspires him to dream, but keeps his feet on the ground. Currently they have no children but have a Rottie/Lab mix named Rhuarc. Jeremy would describe himself as being laid-back and a people person, but highly protective of friends and family.

He received the Member's Choice award for Outstanding Recruit Involvement 2011. He received his Tower name from Brandon Sanderson and appears in the final two Wheel of Time books.

In real life, James is a 21-year-old living in Seattle with a wide variety of interests. He's a book nerd, movie geek, webcomic addict, tech dork, fierce supermodel, a hopeful future librarian, crazy cat lady, Poké-freak, eyeglass wearer, a lover of the arts, and a zombie unicorn that sparkles in the night (well, actually that might’ve just been once). As with any group of people, our lives lead us in many different directions. Members of SDS come from all walks of life and enjoy many different things, from explosion coordination to website design to practicing law and many other professions. Some of us have Masters degrees and some of us are unemployed. Many of us have had careers in the military. Our ages range from 20 to the mid-50s, but we are all brothers in life. We support each other when support is needed, and give each other a slap in the face if we need to wake up and realize what's going on around us. We are always there for each other, but at the same time we lead our own individual lives.

   In July and August of 2011, a class on SDS was taught in the classroom by Jeffan. In one of the lessons, the class was asked to write a funny (PG-13) story about anything, but it must involve three of the following: Tequila, blow-up dolls, fair maidens, nuclear explosions, party hats, tubes, picnic tables, chicken, bragging, shameless flirting, magnificent tracks of land, calvary, rainbows, honey, The Second Amendment, PETA, Coca-Cola, Frat Boys & Corsets.

   As you can imagine, there were many great responses, and we decided to highlight a few here for your enjoyment!
