The Director of Marketing is an [[Executive]] position and as such will have all responsibilities inherent in that position, such as working with other Directors and Officers, providing counsel to other Executives when asked, and managing the [[Department of Marketing]]. This position works closely with all Directors; much of this Departments' work is given it to it by other executives and administrators and the work needs to be completed in a timely fashion for them to be able to do their work. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As this position is an Executive level role, it is not subject to rotation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
==Chain of Command==&lt;br /&gt;
The Director of Marketing reports directly to the {{Keeper}}.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The [[Tower Voices]], [[Marketing Project Manager]], [[External Marketing Coordinator]] and [[Graphics Development Team]] all report to the Director of Marketing.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
==Duties and Responsibilities==&lt;br /&gt;
*Provides counsel to the other Executives as needed.&lt;br /&gt;
*Handles any HR issues for the Department, including any staff/administrator reviews, selecting and replacing any staff/administrators, complaints, reading and responding to monthly and quarterly reports, etc.&lt;br /&gt;
*Is responsible for keeping Officers updated on all projects and issues in the Department via email and monthly reports.&lt;br /&gt;
*Works with almost all Directors and Officers to develop and maintain the visual aspects of the site and community. ''Examples of this include official Ajah and Company logos, merit badge icons and graphics, events logos, advertisements in event/conference programs, external marketing/promotional materials.&lt;br /&gt;
*Works to develop the marketing aspect of our community. Examples of this include working with the Tower Voices to ensure news from inside our community and from the larger WoT community is posted quickly and consistently, developing advertisements and promotional materials for the site, collaborating with publishers and other WoT resources and retailers to provide news and maintain good working relationships, building a strong social media presence to reach out to fans and current/prospective members, ensuring quality and consistency in all official site materials (Web and print), etc.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
==Requirements==&lt;br /&gt;
*Must currently be a Senior Member with at least one year good standing as a Senior Member.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must currently be able to dedicate at least one year to this position.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must be willing and able to work 10-15 hours a week on this position. &lt;br /&gt;
*Must have experience making graphics, both for print and online media. The ideal candidate will have:&lt;br /&gt;
**Access to and very strong ability with Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, definitely preferable to have experience with both. Must have at least one of these programs.&lt;br /&gt;
**Understanding of (at least basic) graphic design principles. I.e. what's the difference between RGB and CMYK and when to use each one, how to prepare files for print, how to deal with typography, etc&lt;br /&gt;
*Must be able to manage both people and projects.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must have creativity and a willingness to try to new things.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must be diplomatic and discreet.&lt;br /&gt;
*Experience with the following is a plus but not required:&lt;br /&gt;
**Prior experience in the Department of Marketing&lt;br /&gt;
**Familiarity with FTP, Dropbox, HTML/CSS, etc&lt;br /&gt;
**IRC or Chat Op experience; this department often uses real time chat to brainstorm and discuss projects&lt;br /&gt;
**Online marketing strategies and/or search engine optimization&lt;br /&gt;
**Online newsletter or journalism &lt;br /&gt;
**Using CafePress, Twitter, Facebook, etc&lt;br /&gt;

At the [[2010 Admin Meeting]], the idea was proposed for a Department of Visual Resources. Until this time the Visual Resources Lead handled the demand for Tower graphics and other members volunteered their services to ad hoc projects. &lt;br /&gt;
After some discussion, the Department of Marketing was created and there was a need for a new Executive Director. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The role was advertised and [[Meilen Gevedon]] was placed into the role to begin to build and run the fledgling Department.&lt;br /&gt;

The Graphics Development Team are [[staff]] positions within the [[Department of Marketing]]. The Graphics team is responsible for all visual assets used on or in conjunction with TarValon.Net. These may include anything from logos, banners, icons, and Web work, to printed material, advertisements, interactive Flash or Web work, and illustrations; used in an official capacity by TarValon.Net. The Graphics Development Team is a group of people with a wide variety of visual/graphic design skills. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As of August 2012, staff positions on the Graphics Development Team will rotate/renew every six months. Members may opt to stay on the team, or may decide to step down while remaining eligible to reapply at any time.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
==Chain of Command==&lt;br /&gt;
The Graphics Development Team members report to the Marketing Project Manager and the [[Director of Marketing]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
==Duties==&lt;br /&gt;
*Create any new visual assets for {{TV}}, whether Web-based or print-based&lt;br /&gt;
*Update existing visual assets as necessary&lt;br /&gt;
*Work with team members to brainstorm and troubleshoot ideas&lt;br /&gt;
*Work with other departments within TarValon.Net to manage their specific design needs&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
==Requirements== &lt;br /&gt;
*Must have been a member of TarValon.net for at least 6 months. Applicants may be of any rank.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must be willing to spend a minimum 5 hours on the boards per week, ideally 5-10 hours. &lt;br /&gt;
*Must be experienced in any or all of the following areas: graphic design, web design, interactive design, typography, illustration, or visual arts. All applicants are asked to submit a portfolio of work with their application, either in the form of a personal website, CoroFlot site, a Photobucket album, a DeviantArt account, or equivalent. The portfolio must include at least ten examples of visual work in your area of specialty.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must own graphics editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, Corel Painter or Draw, Paint Shop Pro, or equivalent.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment, and be able to give and receive constructive criticism from other team members.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must be able to work with a deadline.&lt;br /&gt;
*Skills in any of the following areas are a plus: HTML/CSS or other web coding languages, ActionScript and Adobe Flash.&lt;br /&gt;

*Must be experienced in any or all of the following areas: graphic design, web design, interactive design, typography, illustration, or visual arts. All applicants are asked to submit a portfolio of work with their application, either in the form of a personal website, CoroFlot site, a Photobucket album, a DeviantArt account, or equivalent. The portfolio must include at least ten examples of visual work in your area of specialty.&lt;br /&gt;
*Must own graphics editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, Corel Painter or Draw, Paint Shop Pro, or equivalent.&lt;br /&gt;

I feel more Blue than anything else, both in terms of the Blue ideals in the books and on this site.&lt;br /&gt;

Somewhat, yes. I am very independent, prefer to choose my own paths and causes, and expect everyone else to help enact my great ideas. (I kid...but only a little.)&lt;br /&gt;

I plan and problem-solve, anyway. I travel as much as I possibly can.&lt;br /&gt;

I was a Citizen when that was a new idea. It was okay. When I decided to join the Tower, I spent as little time as Novice as possible. Being a Blue Accepted was great, and I stayed that way for nearly a year.&lt;br /&gt;

I was introduced by a family member and by my friend and then-roommate, Katarianna Sedai here at TV.net.&lt;br /&gt;

I attended the Anniversary Party in Corpus Christi, Texas in March of 2006. I had a good time. It was good to see my friends, meet new people, and hang out with members of my Ajah. And go swimming and stay up all night in a giant slumber party atmosphere.&lt;br /&gt;

Good music. No, seriously. Indie, folk, alt-folk and alt-country indie, various forms of rock, underground hip-hop, classical, old-fashioned R&amp;amp;B and classic blues, good electronic and much more. I prefer vinyl to CD, albums to singles and so forth.&lt;br /&gt;

Somewhat, yes. I am very independent, prefer to choose my own paths and causes, and expect everyone else to help enact my great ideas. (I kid...but only a little.)&lt;br /&gt;

I plan and problem-solve, anyway. I travel as much as I possibly can.&lt;br /&gt;

I was a Citizen when that was a new idea. It was okay. When I decided to join the Tower, I spent as little time as Novice as possible. Being a Blue Accepted was great, and I stayed that way for nearly a year.&lt;br /&gt;

I am a cheeky and personable member of my Ajah; I mentor novices and Accepted; I teach classes occasionally; I participate in projects and other site efforts.&lt;br /&gt;

I was introduced by a family member and by my friend and then-roommate, Katarianna Sedai here at TV.net.&lt;br /&gt;

I'm partial to Lan and Mat. I wouldn't say I have a &amp;quot;favorite nation&amp;quot; though.&lt;br /&gt;

I attended the Anniversary Party in Corpus Christi, Texas in March of 2006. I had a good time. It was good to see my friends, meet new people, and hang out with members of my Ajah. And go swimming and stay up all night in a giant slumber party atmosphere.&lt;br /&gt;

Good music. No, seriously. Indie, folk, alt-folk and alt-country indie, various forms of rock, underground hip-hop, classical, old-fashioned R&amp;amp;B and classic blues, good electronic and much more. I prefer vinyl to CD, albums to singles and so forth.&lt;br /&gt;

I feel more Blue than anything else, both in terms of the Blue ideals in the books and on this site. I love being Blue.&lt;br /&gt;

Somewhat, yes. I am very independent, prefer to choose my own paths and causes, and expect everyone else to help enact my great ideas. (I kid... but only a little.)&lt;br /&gt;

I plan and problem-solve, anyway. I travel as much as I possibly can.&lt;br /&gt;

I was a Citizen when that was a new idea. It was okay; not memorable, really. When I decided to join the Tower, I spent as little time as Novice as possible. Being a Blue Accepted was great, and I stayed that way for nearly a year.&lt;br /&gt;

I am a cheeky and personable member of my Ajah; I mentor novices and Accepted; I teach classes occasionally; I participate in projects and other site efforts.&lt;br /&gt;

I was introduced by a family member and by my friend and then-roommate, Katarianna Sedai here at TV.net.&lt;br /&gt;

I'm partial to Lan and Mat. I wouldn't say I have a &amp;quot;favorite nation&amp;quot; though.&lt;br /&gt;

;Have you ever attended any Real Life Functions? Did you like them if you did, and why? (Why do you think people should come to any future functions?)&lt;br /&gt;
I attended the Anniversary Party in Corpus Christi, Texas in March of 2006. I had a good time, though I was crazy sick with a bad virus. It was good to see my friends, meet new people, and hang out with members of my Ajah. And go swimming and stay up all night in a giant slumber party atmosphere.&lt;br /&gt;

;What kind of music do you like?&lt;br /&gt;
Good music. No, seriously. Indie, folk, alt-folk and alt-country indie, various forms of rock, underground hip-hop, classical, old-fashioned R&amp;amp;B and so forth. I prefer vinyl to CD, albums to singles, cellos to synthesized pop sounds, and The Books over Bloc Party, for example.&lt;br /&gt;

Labyrinth and Gladiator, to name a couple.&lt;br /&gt;

Well, there was this one time involving a skunk, a motorcycle, and some nice fellows we met at the bus station... pfft, I don't know.&lt;br /&gt;

I'm a student, working on my Master's degree, and I work at a book and music store.&lt;br /&gt;
