==General==

Faeldrin Harella is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah from Tarabon (LoC,Ch41). She is with the Aes Sedai in Salidar.

Her hair is dark and she wears it in Taraboner thin braids and beads. She's cool-eyed (LoC,Ch49).

Faeldrin has bonded three Warders (LoC,Ch54).

==Timeline==

*Faeldrin is sent with Merana's embassy to find Rand (LoC,Prologue).

*Min talks to Rand about Faeldrin and the other Aes Sedai from Salidar when they arrive in Caemlyn (LoC,Ch41).

*Faeldrin is chosen to follow after Rand after he's left for Cairhien (LoC,Ch49).

*The embassy joins Perrin and his Two River men (LoC,Ch54).

*Faeldrin takes part in the battle of Dumai's Wells and after the battle is forced to swear fealty to Rand al'Thor (LoC,Ch55).

*Faeldrin accompanies Rand to the Sea Folk ship (ACoS,Ch34).

*The Wise Ones have given a day off to Faeldrin and some other Aes Sedai. They meet Cadsuane, Daigian and Kumira (TPoD,Ch12).

*Rand has told Alanna to send Faeldrin to go to Haddon Mirk to speak with the rebels there (WH,Ch25).

==Miscellaneous==

*Faeldrin sometimes compares the Dragon-sworn in Altara and Murandy to what Dragonsworn have done in Tarabon (LoC,Ch41).

*Faeldrin is quite strong in the One Power, as strong as Masuri and Rafela. Merana is weaker than her (LoC,Ch49).
==General==

Ewin Finngar is a youth from the Two Rivers.

As a child Ewin is a small, annoying little boy. He is a little chunky, but not fat. After he grows up he gas a strong, deep voice that Perrin describes as being the "voice of a bull." He grew up into a "tall, lean-faced man with wide shoulders." (TEoTW, Ch. 2; TSR, Ch. 43). Rand, Perrin and Mat are 4 years older than him, but he is around the same age as Faile (TEoTW, Ch. 2; LoC, Prologue). He is excitable and loyal to Perrin and the Two Rivers but wants to have an adventure.

==Timeline==

*Ewin is just a little kid who wants to be friends with Mat, Rand and Perrin, but Mat takes a humor in this by tricking Ewin into believing that ghost hounds are haunting Emond's Field. He plays an important role because he notifies Mat and Rand of two strangers that came into Emond's Field. He believes that Moiraine is a Lady and Lan is in service to her. However, after talking to Moiraine and receiving a silver penny from her he makes the comment that Lan could be a warder (TEoTW, Ch. 2).

*Ewin is reunited with Perrin after his return to the Two Rivers. Perrin can hardly believe how much he has grown up. Ewin informs Perrin of how Lord Luc has been running things and explains how life has changed within the Two Rivers (TSR, Ch. 43).

*Ewin helps defend Emond's Field against the final Trolloc attack and wants to keep Perrin safe from the White Cloaks (TSR, Ch. 56).

*Faile is told by the women of Emond's Field that Ewin has run off with several other Two Rivers boys to see the world and have an adventure like Perrin had (LoC, Prologue).

==Relationships==

Ewin looks up to Perrin. He sees a man who has gotten away from the Two Rivers and lived in a world beyond dreams. Fighting Trollocs gave him a sense of what that might be like.

Although Ewin likes Mat, Mat still picks on him. Mat just sees him as a little kid. He is jealous of Mat and Rand because they are older and get to do more.

Ewin receives a silver penny from Moiraine and thinks that she and Lan are just wonderful. He also gets along with Alanna Sedai and Verin Sedai after they arrive in the Two Rivers.

==Quotes==

"Her name is Moiraine. I heard him say it. Moiraine he called her. The Lady Moiraine. His name is Lan. The Wisdom may not like her, but I do." (Ewin to Rand and Mat; The Eye of the World, Chapter 2).

Ewin nodded with a broad grin. "We've been hearing all about you, Perrin," he said in that surprising bass, "fighting Trollocs, and having all kinds of adventures out in the world, so they say. I can still call you Perrin, can't I?" (Ewin to Perrin; The Shadow Rising, Chapter 43).
Amellia treats Evon like a friend, which Liandrin cannot understand. He is afraid of Liandrin, since she berated him for looking at her too long; now he will not look at her for more than two seconds, as it seems (TFoH, Ch18).

He discusses meals with Amellia until Liandrin appears. He all but runs back into the kitchen at her sight (TFoH, Ch18).

After shielding Liandrin, Moghedien intends to give her to Evon as a scullery maid and has Temaile soften her for him (TFoH, Ch34).

He is present when Logain captures Toveine and her party (TPoD, Ch. 26).
Evanellein is an Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah who sides with Elaida when the White Tower splits (TFoH, Prologue).

She is very concerned with her looks and clothing, so much so that Elaida often thinks she should have been Green (TFoH, Prologue).

Evanellein was one of the Aes Sedai who aided Elaida in deposing Siuan and in gaining the Amyrlin Seat (TFoH, Prologue).

Evanellein meets with Elaida and her other supporters to discuss what is going on in the world. She tells Elaida and the others that Amathera has vanished in Tarabon, and that an Aes Sedai may have been involved in the disappearance (TFoH, Prologue).

==Quotes==

"Only a rumor," the Gray sister replied. Her silk dress, matching the fringe on her shawl, was finely cut and scooped low at the neck. Often Elaida thought the woman should have been Green, so concerned was she with her looks and clothes. "Almost everyone in those poor lands is a refugee, including those who might send news. The Panarch Amathera has apparently vanished, and it seems an Aes Sedai may have been involved... " (Evanellein to Elaida; The Fires of Heaven, Prologue).

"'A grand display of artifacts of Ages long past, of the Age of Legends and Ages before, open to all, even the common folk, three days in the month and on feastdays,' Eurian Romavni had written. He had spoken in glowing terms of the priceless display of cuendillar figures, six of them, in a glass sided case in the center of the hall, always watched by four of the Panarch's personal guards when people were allowed in, and had gone on for two pages about the bones of fabulous beasts 'never seen alive by the eyes of man.'" (Romavni in his Journey; The Shadow Rising, Chapter 11)
*Erim arrives at Alcair Dal. Along with the other clan chiefs, he looks disapproving upon learning that Couladin went to Rhuidean without the permission of the Wise Ones. He suggests that they go apart to talk in order to decide whether Rand or Couladin is the true Car'a'carn, and stands in stony silence with Bael, Jheran and Han when Rand reveals the secret of Rhuidean to the gathered Aiel. Rand thinks to himself that they know the truth, now, that he is the Car'a'carn. Erim, along with the others, proclaims him to be the Car'a'carn (TSR, Ch. 57).

*Erim stays to support Rand (TSR, Ch. 58)

*Erim is with Rand, Bael, Bruan, Han, Jheran and Rhuarc in Rhuidean. They discuss the other clan chiefs. Erim claims that Timolan, one of the chiefs who has not yet joined Rand, "does not let his feet know which way he will jump until after he has leaped". They also discuss Couladin and the Shaido, and the Aiel who have left their clans because of Rand's revelation at Alcair Dal. Before the clan chiefs leave the meeting, Rand tells them to bring in the rest of the clans and to keep an eye on the Shaido (TFoH, Ch. 2).

*Han tells Rand that the Reyn, Miagoma and Shiande clans are moving; Rhuarc adds that the Shaido are moving for Jangai Pass, though it is too early to tell if the other clans are moving to join with Couladin or not. Erim comments that if Couladin means to cross the Jangai Pass, they cannot catch him (TFoH, Ch. 6).

*After having left Rhuidean, Rand and the Aiel enter the nation of Cairhien (TFoH, Ch. 23).

*Rand meets with Bael, Bruan, Dhearic, Erim, Han, Jheran, Rhuarc, Lan and Weiramon to discuss the impending battle with the Shaido (TFoH, Ch. 42).

*On the day of the battle against the Shaido, the clan chiefs meet with Rand once more for a few final words, to report that their men are in position and ready. Erim is wearing a slight smile and says that it is a good day to see the end of the Shaido (TFoH, Ch. 43).

*During the battle, an Aiel warrior named Seirin brings word to Rand from Han; the clans to the east are moving towards each other. Han means to join with Dhearic, and has sent to Erim to join them (TFoH, Ch. 44).

*Erim is now with Rand's army on the Plains of Maredo, along with Bruan, Dhearic, Han and Jheran (LoC, Ch. 4).

*Rand meets with his forces on the Plains of Maredo, which are made up of Aiel, Tairens and Cairhienin. They discuss Sammael. When Rand leaves after the meeting, the clan chiefs accompany him from the tent and speak some more. Erim asks Rand if the Tairens told him about the rebel Tairens (Darlin, Tedosian and Estanda), and Rand replies that they did. When Rand tells the clan chiefs that they are not to move against Sammael's Illianers until Mat arrives, Han says that they are wasting time, and Jheran and Erim agree (LoC, Ch. 4).

==Miscellaneous==

*He thinks that the Shaido were ever cowards and thieves (TFoH, Ch. 2).

*He tells Rand that to send people to their societies among the Shaido in order to spy is something that no one of honor would do (TFoH, Ch. 2).

*He thinks that Treekillers are fit for nothing except to be killed or sold as animals in Shara (TFoH, Ch. 2).

==Quotes==

"Have you no respect for custom and law, Shaido? Have you no honor? Stand silent here." (Erim to Couladin at Alcair Dal; The Shadow Rising, Chapter 57)

"Treekillers are fit for nothing except to be killed or sold as animals in Shara," Erim said grimly. (Erim to Rand and the other clan chiefs; The Fires of Heaven, Chapter 2)
He has a long nose and a cowlick that sticks up in the back. He looks like a sheep (TEoTW, Ravens; TSR, Ch. 43). He is about the same age as Rand, Mat and Perrin (TSR, Ch. 43; LoC, Prologue).

==Timeline==

*At the annual sheep shearing when she is nine, Egwene sees Elam with Rand, Mat, Perrin, Dav, Lem and Ban. Later, they all listen to a story told by Tam al'Thor about the Dragon (TEoTW, Ravens).

*Mat tells Dav and Elam about the Fade that he and Rand have seen. Dav and Elam have been watching like hawks ever since, but haven't seen anything; Elam now thinks that Mat was trying to trick them (TEoTW, Ch. 1).

*When a wounded Perrin returns to Emond's Field after hunting Trollocs, Dav, Elam and Ewin carry Perrin into the Winespring Inn. When Perrin asks after Luc, Elam tells him that Luc is off hunting the Horn of Valere, or Trollocs. Elam wants to know what it was like for Perrin outside the Two Rivers (TSR, Ch. 43).

*Perrin sees Elam, Dav and Ewin defending Emond's Field during the big battle against the Trollocs. After the battle, Perrin sees all three of them still among the living (TSR, Ch. 56).

*Daise Congar tells Faile that Dav Ayellin, Ewin Finngar and Elam Dowtry have run off from Emond's Field to see the world because of Perrin's stories (LoC, Prologue).

==Relationships==

Elam was a friend of Rand, Mat and Perrin's (TEoTW, Ravens; TEoTW, Ch. 1; TSR, Ch. 43).

Perrin remembers hunting and fishing with Elam, but thinks that he seems too young, now (TSR, Ch. 43).

Elam, Dav and Ewin are mentioned together more than once (TSR, Ch. 43; TSR, Ch. 56; LoC, Prologue). The three of them run off from the Two Rivers together (LoC, Prologue).

Elam seems to admire Luc (TSR, Ch. 43).

==Miscellaneous==

*Elam says he wants to have more sheep than anyone in the Two Rivers (TEoTW, Ravens).

*Luc has been showing Elam how to use a sword (TSR, Ch. 43)

==Quotes==

"What was it like?" Elam put in breathlessly. "Alanna Sedai said you've been all the way to the Great Blight, and I hear you've seen Caemlyn, and Tear. What's a city like? Are they really ten times as big as Emond's Field? Did you see a palace? Are there Darkfriends in the cities? Is the Blight really full of Trollocs and Fades and Warders?" (Elam to Perrin; The Shadow Rising, Ch. 43).
==General==

Edelle Gaelin is a woman from the Two Rivers and the Wisdom of Watch Hill (TSR, Ch. 56; LoC, Prologue). She cannot listen to the wind (LoC, Ch. 30).

She is gray-braided and slender, and is the oldest of the Two Rivers Wisdoms. She makes it plain with her straight back and stiff face that she thinks she should have Daise's place as the "leader" of the Wisdoms, by virtue of her age and her long time in office (LoC, Prologue).

Faile thinks to herself that the one advantage she has over the Wisdoms is that they know the effect that Perrin has on them; they are always self conscious around him and try to make themselves firm, but their resolutions always fly out the window at the sight of him. The Wisdoms don't seem to be sure whether to prefer to deal with Perrin or Faile (LoC, Prologue).

==Timeline==

*After Faile brings the men of Watch Hill to the rescue of Emond's Field, she tells Perrin that the Women's Circle of Watch Hill will be sending a delegation to Perrin, and that Edelle will be bringing him some of her dried-apple tarts (TSR, Ch. 56).

*Daise, Edelle, Elwinn and Milla pay a visit to Faile to speak of a couple of things. The first thing they tell Faile is that three boys have run off to see the world. Faile offers to ask Perrin to speak to them about it, and at the mention of Perrin's name, all four Wisdoms become self-conscious; Edelle automatically smoothes her skirts. When they realize how they are reacting, they freeze and do not look at each other or at Faile. Edelle replies that it won't be necessary. They then proceed to talk about the weather, and Faile tries to be optimistic to them. Before they leave, Edelle tells Faile that she does very well as the lady of the manor (LoC, Prologue).
==General Information==

Lady Dyelin is the High Seat of the House Taravin of Andor. (WH, Prologue) She is one of the most powerful nobles in Andor. (LoC, Ch. 28) Her father was killed when she was fifteen and so Dyelin became High Seat. Since then she has commanded her forces to victory against Murandian and Altaran raiders. (CoT, Ch. 13)

Dyelin supports Elayne for the Lion Throne even though several powerful nobles- Arathelle, Aemlyn, Ellorien, Pelivar and Luan- believe that she herself should be queen. (TPoD, Ch. 28) When minor nobles proclaimed for her in Aringill Dyelin had two of them hung for treason against Elayne and others flogged. When news that Colavaere had been crowned reached Andor Lady Naean and Lady Elenia both tried to claim the throne but Dyelin had them arrested for treason. She was then named Regent until Elayne returned to claim the throne. (ACoS, Ch. 7) When Elayne arrived in Caemlyn Dyelin was the first to greet her and she told Elayne of her support. (TPoD, Ch. 28) She tried to help Elayne cement her claim by bringing four houses- Mantear, Haevin, Gilyard and Northan- to her side. (CoT, Ch. 13)

Dyelin has golden hair streaked with grey and lines at the corners of her eyes. (TPoD, Ch. 28) She is quite beautiful and has a strong face. (LoC, Ch. 16; CoT, Ch. 13)

==Timeline==

1000 NE: Dyelin is made Regent for Elayne. (AcoS, Ch. 7)

1000 NE: Dyelin greats Elayne in the Grand Hall of the Royal Palace. (TPoD, Ch. 28)

1000 NE: Dyelin talks to Elayne about the Queen's Guard. (WH, Prologue)

1000 NE: Dyelin is injured when Darkfriends try to kill Elayne. (WH, Ch. 9)

1000 NE: Dyelin brings the High Seats of four houses to Caemlyn. (CoT, Ch. 13)

==Relationships==

Dyelin supported Morgase for the throne during the last Andorran War of Succession. (TPoD, Ch. 28) She is also Morgase's cousin. (TDR, Ch. 47)

Elayne was suspicious of Dyelin when she was newly returned to Caemlyn; she thought that Dyelin wanted to take the throne. (TPoD, Ch. 28) However Dyelin nearly died defending Elayne when Darkfriends attacked her. (WH, Ch. 9) After that Elayne believes that she is loyal. (WH, Ch. 10)

Dyelin and Birgitte do not like each other and don't agree on anything. Dyelin knows that Birgitte is lying about her past but doesn't know anything more than that. (WH, Prologue)

Dyelin is bemused that Elayne adopted Aviendha as her first sister. (CoT, Ch. 13)

==Miscellaneous==

Dyelin was a child when Tigraine left Andor. (LoC, Ch. 16)

Dyelin likes to wear a pin depicting Taravin's Oak and Owl. (CoT, Ch. 13)

Dyelin and Arendor of House Haevin are the same age. (CoT, Ch. 13)

==Quotes==

"As she went on, Dyelin began to laugh. Elayne wished she knew whether it was from delight over her plans or because Dyelin saw her own path to the Lion Throne being made smooth." Elayne about Dyelin (Reference: TPoD Chapter 28)

"The High Seat of House Taravin was a proud woman altogether. Grey streaked her golden hair and fine lines webbed the corners of her eyes, yet her face was strong, her gaze level and sharp. Her mind was a razor. Or maybe a sword. A plainspoken woman, or so it seemed, who did not hide her opinions." Elayne about Dyelin (Reference: WH Prologue)

"Elayne had never read of any queen being forced onto the throne- That sort of thing might not have made it into the histories in any case- yet Aemlyn, Arathelle and Pelivar seemed willing to try, and not for hope or power for themselves. Dyelin did not want the throne, but she would hardly be a passive ruler." Elayne about Dyelin (Reference: CoT Chapter 14)
*Dorindha believed that Colavaere Saighan was a threat to Rand and told him so (ACoS, Ch. 7).

*Dorindha is seldom anything but calm (ACoS, Ch. 7).

*Dorindha and Nadere were shocked that Elayne did not have a midwife and convinced her to get one (KoD, Ch. 15).

==Quotes==

"She also was Bael's wife, a fact that still disconcerted Rand, for all it had been her choice and Melaine's. Perhaps partly because it had been theirs; among Aiel, a man had little say if his wife chose a sister-wife." Rand about Dorindha, Bael and Melaine (Reference: ACoS Chapter 7).

"No wonder that she told Dorindha everything, Wise Ones' business or no; the two women were best friends and sisters rolled into one." Rand about Dorindha and Melaine (Reference: ACoS Chapter 7).
==General==

Doral Barran was the Wisdom of Emond's Field before Nynaeve (TEoTW, Glossary). She was the oldest woman in Emond's Field, and possibly in the whole Two Rivers (TEoTW, Ravens).

Doral had white hair. Despite her frailness, she was clear-eyed and not stooped at all (TEoTW, Ravens).

Nynaeve became her apprentice at the age of fourteen. Many people thought that Doral should have sent Nynaeve off to live with her relatives in the country when she became an orphan, and that she should have taken on an apprentice older than Nynaeve (TEoTW, Ravens). Her first apprentice died because she could not control her ability to channel (TEoTW, Ravens; TEoTW, Ch. 21).

==Miscellaneous==

*Doral watches Nynaeve like a hawk while Nynaeve bandages Bili Congar's leg at the annual sheep shearing. When Nynaeve is done, Doral unwraps the bandage to peer at Bili's leg, and seems disappointed as she looks at his wound. Perhaps she had been hoping Nynaeve had Healed it (TEoTW, Ravens).

*She often praises Nynaeve publicly for being such a quick learner (TEoTW, Ravens).

*Doral tells Nynaeve that not all Wisdoms can listen to the wind as they claim, only the best. She says that Nynaeve is one of the best (TEoTW, Ch. 21).

*When Egwene has breakbone fever, she sets Nynaeve to watch over her. When Doral returns, Nynaeve has unknowingly Healed Egwene. Doral makes over Nynaeve more than Egwene, and Nynaeve thinks that Doral believes she has given something to Egwene and is too afraid to admit it (TEoTW, Ch. 21).

*Doral switches Mat when he tries to cut open a firework when he is ten (TDR, Ch. 40).

*Then Emond's Field is struck by spotted fever, Doral makes everyone walk around with brandy soaked handkerchiefs clutched to their noses because it will help stave the fever off (CoT, Ch. 30).

"You've played the fool often enough in the past, Bili Congar," Mistress Barran said sternly, "but drinking while handling wool shears is worse than playing the fool." (Doral to Bili Congar; The Eye of the World, Ravens).

"I was still apprentice to Mistress Barran, and she set me to watch Egwene. I was young, and I didn't know the Wisdom had everything well in hand. It's terrible to watch, breakbone fever. The child was soaked with sweat, groaning and twisting until I could not understand why I didn't hear her bones snapping. Mistress Barran had told me the fever would break in another day, two at the most, but I thought she was doing me a kindness. I thought Egwene was dying. I used to look after her sometimes when she was a toddler -- when her mother was busy -- and I started crying because I was going to have to watch her die. When Mistress Barran came back an hour later, the fever had broken. She was surprised, but she made over me more than Egwene. I always thought she believed I had given the child something and was too frightened to admit it. I always thought she was trying to comfort me, to make sure I knew I hadn't hurt Egwene." (Nynaeve to Moiraine; The Eye of the World, Chapter 21).
==General==

Chiad is an Aiel woman of the Stones River sept of the Goshien Aiel. She is also a Maiden of the Spear. Chiad has reddish-blonde hair, gray eyes, and is shorter than her first-sister, Bain (TDR Ch. 38). Her hair is blonder than Bain's flame-colored hair (TSR Ch. 3). Like most Aiel, she is wary of water. Egwene observed Chiad and Bain as they were retrieving water for Nynaeve to use to heal a dying Maiden, Dailin, and she thought they expected the river to reach up and grab them (TDR Ch. 38).

Chiad was among a group of Maidens that crossed over the Dragonwall in search of He Who Comes With the Dawn (TDR Ch. 39). She later stood guard outside Rand's chambers in the Stone of Tear as one of the six Maidens to do so (TSR Ch. 3). When Perrin set out for the Two Rivers from Tear, Chiad accompanied Faile in order to see more of her lands (TSR Ch. 18). Eventually, through her continued travels with Faile, she is taken gai'shain by the Shaido in Amadicia and does not attempt escape because of ji'e'toh (CoT Ch. 9).

==Timeline==

*Chiad is a member of one of the last groups of Aiel sent out by the Wise Ones to cross beyond the Dragonwall and out of the Three-fold Land in search of He Who Comes With the Dawn (TDR Ch. 39).

*Soldiers thought the group of Maidens Chiad was with were bandits and attacked them, injuring a Maiden named Dailin and nearly killing her (TDR Ch. 38).

*Chiad met Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene after Aviendha asked them to aid Dailin (TDR Ch. 38).

*Chiad helps rescue Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene from brigands and Fades (TDR Ch. 39).

*Mat meets Chiad and Bain in the Stone of Tear, but cannot talk to one without the other (TDR Ch. 56).

*Chiad and Bain become friends with Faile (TSR Ch. 2).

*Chiad guarded Rand's chambers at the Stone of Tear with five other Maidens (TSR Ch. 3).

*When Perrin, Gaul, Loial, and Faile go to the Dragonwall Gate to enter the Ways, Chiad and Bain go along with their friend, Faile - Chiad carries weapons, blankets, water bottles, and a cooking pot with her (TSR Ch. 18).

*In the Ways, Chiad and the rest of the traveling party were attacked by Trollocs and Myrddraal, which she fights. She is shaken by Machin Shin (TSR Ch. 27).

*Perrin, Gaul, Loial, Faile, Bain and Chiad camp near the Waygate (TSR Ch. 28).

*After three days, the group reaches Emond's Field, where Perrin and Gaul visit the Winespring Inn, followed there by Faile, Bain, and Chiad, where they all learn that Perrin's family is dead (TSR Ch. 29).

*After Loial joins them at the Inn, Marin al'Vere takes the group to an old sickhouse to hide (TSR Ch. 30).

*At the old sickhouse, Perrin, Faile, Loial, Gaul, and the Maidens meet Alanna, Verin, Tam, and Abell (TSR Ch. 31).

*Chiad is among the scouts that go to the Whitecloack camp. Halfway there, they stop at Jac al'Seen's place, but Chiad, Bain, and Gaul wait away from the farm (TSR Ch. 32).

*As Perrin's band rides north of the Tinker camp towards Emond's Field, Chiad and the two other Aiel rejoin him (TSR Ch. 42)

*Chiad and Bain warn Perrin of a group of perhaps five hundred Trollocs coming their way from the Westwood (TSR Ch. 43).

*Chiad stays in Emond's Field with Gaul rather than accompanying Faile and Bain to Caemlyn in search of help (TSR Ch. 53).

*Chiad is with Perrin, Bran, Gaul, Loial, Verin, and Tomas as they lead the forces to defend Emond's Field at the north perimeter (TSR Ch. 56).

*Chiad fights alongside and back-to-back with Gaul against the Trollocs (TSR Ch. 56).

*When Perrin and his band arrive in Caemlyn, Chiad and Bain push through the Saldaeans and enter the city, with Gaul followed them while saying he needs to find his spear-brothers (LoC Ch. 45).

*Chiad, Bain, Gaul, and other Aiel accompany Rand, Min, Perrin, Faile, and Loial to the Sun Palace (LoC Ch. 49).
*Chiad and Bain follow as meek gai'shain back to the Shaido camp where Faile and the others are marched and then carried to (WH Ch. 3).

*Faile and the others march with the Shaido after Galina Heals their frostbite, then Faile, Maighdin, and Alliandre are separated from Chiad, Bain, Arrela, and Lacile (WH Ch. 4).

*Chiad and Bain help Arrela and Lacile escape, however, they do not try themselves because of ji'e'toh (CoT Ch. 9).

==Relationships==

Chiad is first-sister to Bain of the Shaarad Aiel. The Shaarad Aiel and Goshien Aiel held a blood feud for over a hundred years and though they both wedded the Spear and became Maidens, they felt that the wedding pledge was not enough. They each went to the Wise Ones of their clans and asked to bond as first-sisters (TDR Ch. 38).

Chiad is friends with Faile and accompanies her when she travels.

Gaul of the Shaarad Aiel wants Chiad to marry him, but as it is in the Aiel tradition, he must wait for her to ask him. Faile tells Perrin that Chiad is willing to be Gaul's lover, but does not want to give up the spear and marry (LoC Ch. 45).

==Miscellaneous==

*When Perrin was going to see Rand in his chambers in Tear, Chiad and Bain would not allow him to enter. Chiad put her spear right on Perrin's neck and at one point was a breath away from cutting open his skin (TSR Ch. 3).

*Chiad and Bain tended to Gaul's injured leg when he and Loial returned from closing a Waygate in the Two Rivers and after having been chased by fifty Trollocs and a Myddraal (TSR Ch. 53).

*Chiad fought alongside and back-to-back with Gaul against the attacking Trollocs. Afterwards, as people were streaming out of Emond's Field, she walked hand in hand with Gaul (TSR Ch. 56).

==Quotes==

"Then why do you not speak the words before your Wise Ones?" Chiad asked. "Bain and I became first-sisters." (Chiad, TDR Chapter 38).

"Or if she is chosen to go to Rhuidean," Chiad put in. "A Wise One cannot be wedded to the spear." (Chiad, TDR Chapter 38).

"The Maidens do not dance the spears with one another even when our clans do, but the Shaarad Aiel and the Goshien Aiel have held blood feud between them over four hundred years, so Chiad and I felt our wedding pledge was not enough. We went to speak the words before the Wise Ones of our clans - she risking her life in my hold, and I in hers - to bond us as first-sisters. As is proper for first-sisters who are Maidens, we guard each other's backs, and neither will let a man come to her without the other. I would not say we do not care for men." (Bain on becoming first-sisters with Chiad, TDR Chapter 38).

"How can that be?" Chiad asked slowly. "You are not wedded to the spear. And you are Wise Ones. Who would lift a hand against a Wise One? This confuses me. What need have you for guarding of backs?" (Chiad to Egwene, Elayne and Nynaeve, TDR Chapter 38).

"He will lead us out of the Three-Fold Land," Chiad added. "The prophecies say he was born of Far Dareis Mai." (Chiad referring to Rand, TDR Chapter 39).

"Bain says they wish to see more of your lands, but I think it is the argument between you and Faile which fascinates them. They like her, and when they heard of this journey, they decided to go with her instead of you." (Gaul talking about Bain's and Chiad's accompaniment in Faile and Perrin's journeys, TSR Chapter 18).

"Do you mean to move like the wind then, Stone Dog? It will be diverting to see a Stone Dog try to move lightly. When my sister and I have rescued the prisoners, perhaps we will go back for you, if you are too old to find your own way." (Chiad, TSR Chapter 33).

''Author: Melania al'Larwind''

==General==

==Timeline==

*Chiad participates in the rescuing of the prisoners from the Whitecloaks at Watch Hill (TSR Ch. 33).

*Chiad, Bain, and Gaul warn Perrin of a band of Trollocs which turns out to be an ambush (TSR Ch. 40).

*Chiad, Bain, and Gaul sleep away from the Tinker camp that Perrin and others enter (TSR Ch. 41).

*Chiad discusses with Bain whether they should help Faile beat Perrin (LoC Ch. 50).

*Chiad and Bain stand guard outside the Grand Hall while Rand meets with the Aes Sedai (LoC Ch. 51).

*Chiad is with the forces that rescued Rand (ACoS, Ch. 3).

*Chiad, Bain, Faile, Alliandre, Arrela, Lacile, and Maighdin are captured by Sevanna's Shaido and made gai'shain (TPoD Ch. 30).

==Relationships==

==Miscellaneous==

==Quotes==

==General==

Changu was a top-knotted Shienaran soldier and a Darkfriend. He was not tall for a Shienaran, square and stocky. He was a friend of Nidao (TGH, Ch3; TGH, Ch9).

==Timeline==

*A month before the Horn is stolen, he fought at Tarwin's Gap and saved Lord Agelmar from Trollocs after his horse went down (TGH, Ch9).

*When Egwene and Rand went to the dungeons where Padan Fain was held, Changu was on guard with Nidao (TGH, Ch3).

*He disappeared when Fain left, which is later discovered when the people in the keep are counted (TGH, Ch9).

*He was hung up on a stoneoak not far away from the River Erinin and skinned alive by the Trollocs that left with Fain. When Rand and the group that was to retrieve the Horn of Valere saw him and Nidao, they took them down and buried them (TGH, Ch10).

==Miscellaneous==

*Changu told jokes the first time Egwene saw him, but he grew meaner and more sullen every time she came to the dungeons (TGH, Ch3). This is the effect Fain has on the people around him.

*After Fain escaped from the dungeons, Rand was relieved that he does not recognize the guards who had been on duty then. It would have made it worse for him had he known them, even had they been Changu and Nidao. (TGH, Ch6)

*He always stayed together with Nidao, no matter if they had to trade their watch or do extra duty (TGH, Ch9).

==Quotes==

"You'll want some light, won't you," Changu said, "in there in the dark with your Darkfriend friend." He laughed, coarse and humorless, and lit the lamp. "He's waiting for you." (Changu to Egwene; The Great Hunt, Chapter 3)

"At first Rand thought the figures hanging by their arms from the thick gray limbs of the stoneoak were scarecrows. Crimson scarecrows. Then he recognized the two faces. Changu, and the other man who had been on guard with him. Nidao. Eyes staring, teeth bared in a rictus of pain. They had lived a long time after it began." (Rand; The Great Hunt, Chapter 10)
==General==

Chanelle din Seran White Shark is a Sea Folk Windfinder. She is lean with an angular face. She is a woman of honor, carrying almost as many golden medallions on her chain as Zaida (CoT, Ch12). She has big, hard eyes and full lips (KoD, Ch14).

According to Zaida's bargain, Chanelle is the leader of the Windfinders left in the Royal Palace, yet under the authority of Elayne and Birgitte (CoT, Ch12).

==Timeline==

*She is one of the twenty Windfinders to accompany Nynaeve and Lan to the Tarasin Palace as agreed to in the Bargain with the Mistress of the Ships (ACoS, Ch37). On Renaile's agreement the Windfinders accompany Elayne and Nynaeve wherever they will go to activate the Bowl of the Winds (ACoS, Ch39).

*Among the group of Windfinders, she rides through Aviendha's gateway from the Tarasin Palace to the Kin's farm (TPoD, Ch1; TPoD, Ch3), where they arrive already so bruised from riding so that Nynaeve Heals them (TPoD, Ch4). When the Seanchan attack the farm (TPoD, Ch6), she Travels with the others to Andor, riding toward Caemlyn (TPoD, Ch20) and eventually arrives at the Royal Palace (TPoD, Ch28).

*After learning of Nesta's death, the Sea Folk in the Royal Palace want to go to Illian immediately to elect a new Mistress of the Ships. Zaida bargains with Elayne and ends up leaving nine Windfinders behind under Chanelle's command (CoT, Ch12).

*She confronts Elayne, who is on her way to her rooms, and inquires again after Talaan and Merilille (KoD, Ch14).

*After Elayne is captured, Birgitte demands a gateway big enough for a thousand soldiers of Chanelle and the Windfinders. She grudgingly agrees and although she said the Windfinders would take no part in the battle, she attacks the Black Ajah in the end, seeing how easily they are destroying the army (KoD, Ch32).

*When Elayne hears that Arymilla broke through Far Madding gate and Dyelin is holding her off, Elayne decides to strike at the back. Chanelle at first does not want to provide a gateway to the intended sight, but after she is assured the Windfinders do not have to take part in this battle, she opens it (KoD, Ch33).

==Relationships==

With Nesta's death, Renaile din Calon is reduced to being Chanelle's secretary. Chanelle is quite pleased to witness Renaile's fall (KoD, Ch14).

Although she is under Elayne's authority, she still lets her temper flare, since she is accustomed to wielding power. Sometimes she and Elayne have shouting matches and more than once feel to desire to strike the other woman.

She fears to return to Zaida with the bargain yet unfulfilled (KoD, Ch17; KoD, Ch32).

==Quotes==

"The lean woman had been the butt of Aviendha's nose-tweaking more than once, including a regrettable episode involving oosquai, a very potent Aiel drink. The glow of saidar actually surrounded her! Zaida could not see that, but she knew about the oosquai and Chanelle being carried to her bed, sicking up the whole way, and she raised a peremptory hand toward the Windfinder." (Elayne on Chanelle; Crossroads of Twilight, Chapter 12)
The girl seemed on the point of tears. "I was being careful, Mistress, but I had such a twinge in my arm."

Mistress Madwen threw up her hands. "You always have some excuse, and you still break more dishes than all the rest. Ah, it's all right. Clean it up, and don't burn yourself." The innkeeper turned to Rand and the others, all still standing around the table. "I hope none of you take this amiss. The girl really won't burn down the inn. She's hard on the dishes when she starts mooning over some young fellow, but she's never mishandled a lamp before."
==General==

Cal is a young footman in the Aesdaishar Palace in Chachin, Kandor. He serves the Lady Ines Demain, one of the possible mothers of the Dragon Reborn. He is a source of information for Moiraine and Siuan on Ines. Siuan, dressed as a maid named "Suki", spends a lot of time with him (NS, Ch. 24; NS, Ch. 25).

Cal is very pretty. Siuan describes him to have pretty brown eyes and a gentle manner (NS, Ch. 25).

==Timeline==

*Disguised as a maid, Siuan goes to meet with Cal to find out information on Ines Demain (NS, Ch. 24).

*Siuan learns nothing from Cal, with the exception that he is a good kisser (NS, Ch. 25).

*Siuan spends more time with Cal and manages to bring Rahien Demain up in casual conversation. Although he wasn't with Ines when Rahien was born, he knows when the birth took place (NS, Ch. 25).

*Siuan has led Cal to believe that she has been dismissed from Moiraine's service; Cal has offered her a bed with Lady Ines' servants, and thinks he can get her a place working for Ines (NS, Ch. 25).
==Quotes==

"A young footman? She did not know whether Siuan had ever been with a man, but surely she would not just to reach Ines' servants. Not a footman!" (Moiraine; New Spring, Chapter 25).

"Well, I learned that young Cal knows how to kiss, and aside from that, I came up with a bucket of bilgewater." Siuan scowled suddenly. "Why are you looking at me that way? I only kissed him, Moiraine. Have you kissed a pretty man since young Cormanes the night you left for the Tower? Well, it's been as long for me, too long, and Cal is very pretty." (Siuan to Moiraine; New Spring, Chapter 25).

"I led Cal to believe I'd been dismissed from your service for spilling wine on your dress, and he's offered me a bed with the Lady Ines' servants. He thinks he might be able to get me a place with his lady." She snorted with amusement, then caught Moiraine's eyes and snorted again, more roughly. "It isn't his bloody bed, Moiraine. And if it was, well, he has a gentle manner and the prettiest brown eyes you've ever seen." (Siuan to Moiraine; New Spring, Chapter 25).
