General
Aemon al Caar al Thorin was a king of Manetheren during the Trolloc Wars. He was married to Eldrene ay Ellan ay Carlan. His father was Caar, and his grandfather was Thorin (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9).
Aemon was fearless, and had a courageous heart (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9).
Timeline
-The men of Manetheren win a victory at the Field of Bekkar. Hearing that an army of Trollocs is moving against Manetheren, they march day and night until they reach their homeland, prepared to defend it (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9).
-Aemon sends out messengers asking for help in defending Manetheren against the Trollocs. He is promised help if his men can hold out for three days (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9).
-Even though the odds should have overwhelmed Manetheren within an hour, they held out for nine days, and on the tenth, Aemon knows that he had been betrayed by his allies and that no help is coming (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9).
-Knowing that no help is coming, Aemon crosses the Tarendrelle, burning the bridges behind him, and tells his people to flee, but instead, the people of Manetheren, even the civilians, band together to fight off the Trollocs (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9).
-Aemon dies during the battle. Eldrene, feeling his death, uses the One Power to destroy the Trolloc army, thus saving the rest of Manetheren (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9).
Miscellaneous
-The site where Emond's Field is located used to be known as "Aemon's Field". It is where Aemon and the men of Manetheren made their last stand (The Eye of the World, Chapter 9; The World of Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time").
-Aemon's personal war cry was "Carai an Ellisande", which means "For the honor of the Rose of the Sun" (The Eye of the World, Chapter 18; The World of Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time").
-When Mat uses Aemon's ancient battle cry without knowing what it means, Perrin laters says that maybe Mat is Aemon come back again (The Eye of the World, Chapter 19).
-Mat has a memory of leading Manetheren against Trollocs. It is possible that his memory comes from Aemon (The Dragon Reborn, Chapter 19).
-During the Trolloc Wars, there was a group of men named "Shen an Calhar", or "The Band of the Red Hand", who guarded Aemon himself (The Fires of Heaven, Chapter 51; The World of Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time").
