Hello, my name is Nancy and I am 23 and currently live in Brenham Texas. I have a 5 month old baby son Landon who brings joy and purpose to my life. I also have a soon to be ex-husband who is currently in jail for extreme stupidity and non-compliance with probation. I am happy to say I have not seen him since September  My last career as a Correctional Officer (ironic, no? ) was both stressful and unrewarding to me but I learned alot and have decided that I would like to continue in criminal justice and law- enforcement. My goal is to eventually go to the police academy near here, though I plan to work first as a 911 operator since they are in constant contact with the police and send out the dispatches. This way I can really get a inside feel of what I will be getting myself into. I am in quite a transitional phase in my life where things I have decided are being re-evaluated and plans for my future are being made. Though its all a little slow in coming and patience is a virtue ... that I lack. Though things are getting better and better so I have no complaints. At the moment I have a small job in a deli/bakery (laugh if you like ) until Landon is a bit older.

The Brown ajah is the best place for me because even though I have had a few long LoA's due to no net access at times when ever I do come back it always feels like home I am quite a strange individual who also has tendances to be anti-social at times and here with the browns I can feel close to my sisters but never feel like I have to be every ones best friend or know them all on to personal of a level if I do not care to. Who am I

I love to read and constantly have a book to carry around everywhere I go. I also do graphic art and love to listen to rock music.

We Browns are a very diverse group of ladies that can hold all kinds of people with completely different values and extremes in one ajah with ease. Other ajahs claim this but I believe brown is the only ones who can truly pull it off

Why are you not __ Ajah?

I did not guest either but you get a feel of the ajahs in the hallways and dorms as a novice. I thought I knew what I could expect from most of the ajahs and from brown. I was wrong the browns were much more than I thought in a good way. I had board friends in other ajahs and no real close friends in brown but I still felt that I belonged in brown rather than green or red.

Yeah browns had its times were we try to have a visible gimmick to but we don't rely on them nor do all of us promote or participate in all of them.. we pick and choose just like with everything else.

I have always believed we are truly the most diverse ajah even if others claim to be so. We feel no need to be best friends or like the same things. I am odd, antisocial, reclusive most of the time, and sometimes my personality once you get to know me is abrasive (though I am extremely loyal). Though I know alot of the sisters are sweet, kind, and helpful. While others are indifferent. We come together in some awesome way that can not be explained in words. It should clash but it fits perfectly and unless you stay here long enough or just really "get it" there is no way to know what being Brown is like.

You could say its a love for books and reading but that might be most of this site since it was brought together about books. You could say its about the thirst for knowledge or the occurrence of brown outs.. but its not.(partly) Its undefinable and its awesome. We don't feel the need to spam up our halls with endless posting to justify why we are or validate our ajah. We just are.
