  • Why did you choose Blue?

I felt most at home with the women of this Ajah on the site. I tend not to be very active, but whenever I peek into the boards, it feels like I haven't been gone at all.

  • Are you like the Blues in the books? Do you plot and manipulate? Do you travel a lot?

If I were to choose an Ajah according to the books, I'd actually be Green. That being said, I do travel a lot, and I guess I can be considered plotsy. I'd like to think I'm not very manipulative, though.

  • Do you have a favorite Blue Ajah character from the novels?

Oh, gosh. I guess Siuan, because I'm about as stubborn as she is.

  • How long have you been a fan of the Wheel of Time series?

Since I was 10, so... 13 years now!

  • How did you first get into the series?

I moved to Poland when I was 10 years old. I've always been a voracious and fast reader, so I chose the longest book I could find at the English-language store near our apartment in Warsaw... it was Eye of the World.

  • Who is your favorite "hero"?

If I had to pick just one, it would be Egwene. I identify with her a lot, and I'd like to think I'd be as strong as she was if it came down to similar situations. She's also a major reason I see myself as a Green.

  • Favorite bad guy/gal?

Hm. I'd have to say Aginor, because YAY BIOLOGY.

  • Favorite book and scene?

Spoiler for the 12th book, but... when Nynaeve rides into the Borderlands for Lan. I can't lie - I was sobbing at that scene because I was just so damn proud of her.

  • If you were set down in Randland, who/what would you see yourself as? An Aes Sedai? Innkeeper? Seanchan Captain?

I'd like to be Aes Sedai, or maybe Aiel.

  • How did you find TarValon.Net and what convinced you to stay and become a Senior Member?

I googled it one day, when I had just turned fourteen. I stayed first because I found a bunch of people with similar interests (no one I knew in person knew of the books), and have kept coming back for nine years because I've essentially grown up with the members here.

  • What do you do in "real life"?

I'm a first-year PhD candidate at Columbia University. I'm studying pharmacology/microbiology, hopefully with some heavily computational biology work.

  • Do you have any hobbies?

I like to read, play video games, knit, and run mud races.

  • What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

Everything. I've recently discovered The National and I kind of love them.

  • What are some of your favorite movies / television shows?

In terms of movies: American Beauty, Requiem for a Dream, What Dreams May Come... there's a whole list. I recently started watching BSG and I love it. I also really enjoy Sherlock. I tend to start watching shows long after they start because I'm too impatient to wait for individual episodes.

  • Aside from The Wheel of Time, what are a few of your favorite books/series?

The Master and Margarita (Bulgakov), The Plague (Camus), One Hundred Years of Solitude (Garcia Marquez), Microbe Hunters (de Kruif), The Poisoner's Handbook (can't remember the author offhand), Devil in the White City, The Cutter Incident (Offit)

  • What profession did you want to have when you were a kid?

I wanted to be a detective! And I guess I kind of am one now... just the biological sort. :)
