The levels of Novice and Recruit are the first in Tower membership. Upon obtaining Tower membership, the member must remain at this level for a period of at least twelve weeks before taking the test to become Accepted/Soldier. Members should realize that this is a bare minimum time requirement; many remain at this level for considerably longer. A member reading The Wheel of Time series for the first time will not be able to submit his or her name for advancement from this level until they have finished reading all the books in the main story arc that have been released (books 1-11). Reading New Spring and The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time as well is recommended but is not required.

This is the highest level of membership for Junior Members, one step below full Senior Members. One of the main purposes of being an Accepted/Soldier is to learn how to be a Senior Member, which means a greater understanding of TarValon.Net's groups than your average member. They have read all of the books in the main story arc that have been published in English, have passed the test for Accepted/Soldier with a minimum score of eighteen correct answers out of twenty five, and are at least fifteen years of age. At this stage they are allowed to explore two Ajahs/Companies at a time and are encouraged to explore each option that interests them for membership. They must stay at this level for a minimum of twelve weeks.
