Foreward:

I have always loved books. Books open up doorways to our imagination, they inspire us, and they can teach us. I have long aspired to write my own novels, but have had difficulties finding time for research and all of the other fun activities that come along with it.

So one day while I was working in the library, it occurred to me - why don't I do what every other semi-talented, connectionless hack does and start out by writing a children's book? Better yet, an adaptation of something many people already know?

With that, I present my first attempt, an adaptation of the classic "Going on a Lion Hunt," transformed into "Going on a Trolloc Hunt," with our young, gullible Novice heroine and her Recruit hero. Be sure to pay attention for my special 'twist? ending! The pictures have been stunningly rendered in Microsoft Paint in 256 color, for that authentic this-looks-like-a-friggin-kid-drew-it look.

I hate kids. Comments and suggestions can be sent to captin_pickle@yahoo.com.

We're going on a Trolloc hunt.
I'm not afraid!
Got my Recruit by my side.

Coming up to short grass now --
Can't go under it,
Can't go around it,
We'll have to go through it!
(Swish, swish, swish!)

Coming up to long grass now --
Can't go under it,
Can't go around it,
We'll have to go through it!
(Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!)

Coming up to mud now --
Can't go under it,
Can't go around it,
We'll have to go through it!
(Squelch, squelch, squelch!)

Coming up to a bridge now --
Can't go under it,
Can't go around it,
We'll have to go over it!
(Boom, boom, boom!)

Coming up to a cave now.
It's very dark!
(Shiver!)

I've found something.
It's big and smelly!
It growls and moves!

It's a Trolloc!
RUN!!!
AHHH!

(Back across the bridge!
Boom, boom, boom!)

(Back through the mud!
Squelch, squelch, squelch!)

(Coming back to long grass now --
"Can't go under it"
"Can't go around it")

But Trollocs can.
