Herid is one of the Darkfriend workmen Hadnan Kadere has accompany him into the Waste. He is assigned to move the doorframe to the world of the Eelfinn in Rhuidean, but slips while doing this and falls through, up to his waist, the lower part of his body disappearing. Lan grabs ahold of him and prevents him falling all the way. After he drops him on the ground, Rand hears terrified cries from him (TFoH, Ch. 2). He was not entirely right in the head after that and ran away as soon as they had crossed the Jangai Pass (TFoH, Ch. 52).
