General

Jorin din Jubai White Wing is Windfinder of the raker Wavedancer and the sister of Coine. She is taller than her sister and looks younger. She wears three golden earrings in each ear (TSR, Ch. 19).

She is very deft at weaving Air and Water (TSR, Ch. 20).

She has daughters older than Elayne (TSR, Ch. 20).

Elayne feels a kind of kinship with Joine, the same as for any woman who can channel (TSR, Ch. 35).

In the glossary her name is also given as "Wild Winds", like her sister.

Timeline

  • When the Seanchan attacked Wavedancer to take 'him' over, she set their ship aflame (TSR, Ch. 20).
  • She and her sister talk with Nynaeve and Elayne about the gift of passage. When she learns of their reason for wanting to travel to Tanchico, she is the one to agree to take them along, since she is the one at risk of being discovered a channeler (TSR, Ch. 19).
  • After Elayne finds out that Jorin can channel, she wants to learn from her and Jorin agrees to teach her (TSR, Ch. 20).
  • Elayne tells Egwene about Jorin and that they have been Weaving the Winds together (TSR, Ch. 35).
  • Elayne teaches her how to weave Fire better. Jorin takes leave from her like someone closely related when the passage is over (TSR, Ch. 39).

Quotes

"They were too occupied with trying to save him to bother us as we limped away. I regretted seeing him burn and sink, then; he was a fine ship, I think, for heavy seas. Now I regret it because we might have saved the woman, the damane. Even if she damaged him, perhaps she would not have, free. The Light illumine her soul, and the waters take her peacefully." (Joine on the Seanchan, their vessel and the damane; The Shadow Rising, Chapter 20).
