Avendaella is a staple in many mafia games, but by no means does her participation in TarValon.Net stop there. She’s been the Mayor, a member of the Outreach Team, a Forum Moderator, and has served in multiple capacities within her own Ajah.

Interview Questions

Have you modded any games at Tar Valon? If so, what ones?

Yes, Disney Mafia and it was a lot of fun.

What is your favourite game that you have played here?

Oh I have played so many... I have to say Babylon 5. That is where I was really able to up my game.

Do you prefer to be town or mafia?

I love being Mafia. Just because of all the confusion you can cause.

What is your favourite role?

The cop role is pretty fun.

Who is your favourite person to lynch and why?

Hmm it's kind of a toss-up between Stephen and Eli :P

Mafia tidbits of the month:

Mafia in real life! – As the holiday season begins so to will the many gatherings of people you don’t see for the rest of the year. Mafia of course didn’t start on internet forums, but rather in real life gatherings. If you’ve got a group of people together it is an excellent way to keep them occupied and entertained. Here’s how:

Sit everyone in a circle then deal out one card from a deck of cards to everyone there. Specify a few specific ones that you know you have handed out as roled cards. Ex: Jack of hearts is the Doctor, Ace of clubs is the cop, all spade face cards are mafia. You can pick which cards mean what.

Next have everyone close their eyes and start drumming their legs with their hands. Ask each of the roles one at a time to open their eyes so you know who they are, then make them close their eyes and move onto the next role.

Day phase: Everyone stops drumming and opens their eyes. You introduce the phase and any deaths. Players then vote by raising one hand in the air and pointing at the person they want to vote with the other. When you have a majority the voted for player dies and night phase begins.

Night phase: Eyes closed and everyone drumming their legs. Have each role open their eyes one at a time and choose who to target by pointing. When mafia get their turn they open their eyes all at once and silently negotiate by pointing. Dead players can keep their eyes open but if they choose to stay they should probably drum as well (optional, up to you game mod).

Now go forth and have your friends start pointing fingers and shouting at each other. In my experience RL mafia is never as serious or analytical as forum mafia and a single game takes well under an hour, depending on how many people you’ve got.

Happy Holidays and good hunting!
