Maryl Harke is a woman who stays at Rand's Cairhien Academy.
She makes huge kites that she calls "gliders". Idrien Tarsin tells Rand that, come spring, Maryl will be throwing herself off hills again and sailing downhill on her gliders, something that puts Idrien's heart in her mouth to see. Apparently, she has broken an arm before trying out her gliders, and Idrien is afraid that she will break more than that the next time one of them folds up on her.
