In this Minecraft article I'll write about our farms, and nothing else! I've wanted to do this for a while, and during the few months we've been playing Minecraft we have managed to build quite a lot of farms, which makes all of our Minecraft lives so much easier. In some ways I measure our progress by how much we have of everything, and some of these farms are operating as soon as a player is near them.

I my opinion we have come pretty far, and we should be proud, together, for the wealth we have accumulated. Down below I'll be talking shortly about each farm, but be prepared: this article might be a tad more exhaustive than my other articles. :)

This giganteous beast of a farm does several things. The turqoise tower before is composed of several tiers, each one as dark as night, where the creatures of the night spawn and fall to their death. Don't worry. We collect their drops neatly. And far below the tower you'll see a huge, square, gray surface. It's actually a cube, hollowed out and what you see is the roof. The whole structure is submerged in the ocean. Once there was a huge ocean monument there, but now the guardians (they are actually called guardians) of the underwater monument spawn, just to find that the temple is gone, and instead there's a huge drop which will kill them. Yep, we collect their loot as well.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9b.png

This is where the guardians fall to their death. The hoppers below pick up their drops and transport them to the right in the picture, and funnel into huge item elevators.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9c.png

And here's a picture of the item elevators. There are three of them, to handle the item flow. They are transported up into the sorting section.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9d.png

And this is the sorting section. This build is made by Elysande Greywood (Blattamancer ingame).

TVT 5-2015 internal-9e.png

And beneath the turquoise tower, high above the guardian farm, is the chamber where all the mob drops are collected and sorted into chests.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9f.png

And of course we have a lot of other farms! On to the next! This is the chicken farm. Egg goes into the chest on the right and cooked hens comes out in the left chest, basically. Built by Elysande!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9g.png

The wool farm. Can you see the lever? Flip it! There you go!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9h.png

Good job! The water was turned on and now you can shear the wool off the lambs.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9i.png

An automatic cow farm! Hamburgers! Also built by Elysande.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9j.png

This is the Iron Golem farm. The structure above is a "village", with villagers. When there are enough villagers and doors Iron Golems will spawn. This build is made so the Golems only can spawn in water. They will be flushed down into a hole and burned. And then we collect their drops: iron bars. This build is built in the "spawnchunk", which is loaded and active even when a player isn't close. You just need to be online in the same world for it to operate. So far we have produced more than 25,000 iron bars here.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9k.png

And this is just after a few hours of operation.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9l.png

Now onto something else! This is a blaze farm, and it's built in the nether (hell), where blaze spawners exist. The idea is that they spawn in the chamber and fall down. See the next picture.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9m.png

This is where they end up. With the flick of a lever and some button punching you can easily kill them bare handed and collect their drops and the experience orbs. Yummy!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9n.png

Obligatory tree farm! Replant, please!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9o.png

And this is a clever crop farm. A water flushing system is hooked up on a timer which flushes the crops every 30 minutes or so, down a stream, into hoppers which gathers them into chests. Then the villager you see will walk around and replant! We have several floors with potatoes and carrots. Fully automatic deliciousness!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9p.png

You might have seen this one before, but I have to mention it, since I'm doing an article on farms. The sugar cane farm! The pistons fire every 2 minutes and the sugar cane which has grown some will fall down into the water, travel up the item elevator, and end up in the chests.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9q.jpg

Not long ago Thaumiel built a mob farm as well! This is the innards of the farm, where the magic happens. A water flush system on a timer forces the mobs to fall down to their death, and the drops are gathered by hoppers.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9r.png

Ah, where in the End now, where the lords of Darkness (Endermen) and the Dragon resides. But fear not, half slabs and narrow spaces will keep harm away. This is the entrance to the Enderman farm!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9s.png

If you follow the tunnel in the last picture you'll see this after a short walk. The Enderman in the farm gather here and you can one-punch them and collect their Ender pearls and their XP. If you come here with 0 experience, you can hit level 30 in 2 minutes and 2 seconds. Pretty nice!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9t.png

The farm works like this: by building the farm far away from the Ender island, the Endermen are forced to spawn on this platform. In the middle is the hole where they fall down. How can they be so stupid, you ask, that they willingly walk down the hole, eagerly? Well. In the minecart in the middle of the picture is an Endermite - and Endermen just love Endermites. They'll try to go to it, but their greed will be their bane.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9izz.png

And they fall down here, 43 blocks, to be precise. This leaves them with one half heart, so you can one punch them in the killing chamber. The water you see has a function: Endermen hate water, so they won't teleport away from the killing chamber.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9v.png

Punch away.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9w.png

Least, but not last. You've seen this Enderman before, perhaps? Well, it's a gold farm! The more you know!

TVT 5-2015 internal-9x.png

Here's the entrance to the farm, but really, you just have to wait right there and collect the gold in the chest.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9y.png

The gold farm has portals inside, where Pigmen will spawn, and fall to their death.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9z.png

This is the newest farm! It was made by Thaumiel and it is a squid farm. This is how it looks form the side in spectator mode. Since this is built in a mesa biome (basically desert) there are not much water around where squids can spawn. By building it there we force the squid spawning to happen exactly where we want to. Then it's just a matter of picking up the items, after they have fallen to their death.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9za.png

This is what it looks like from the inside.

TVT 5-2015 internal-9zb.png

And this is what it looks like from surface level.

All the things from the farms are collected and placed in the big vault. So if you want to join us, just hop on, find the city Thatplace, and grab yourself a bunch of iron blocks, food or anything else you need. See you there!
