The Spine of the World, also known as the Dragonwall, is a long mountain range running along eastern edge of the main continent, separating it from the Aiel Waste.  Four passes run through it, Tarwin's gap close to the Mountain's of Dhoom in the Blight, the Niamh Passed in southern Shienar, the Jangai pass in Cairhien, just south of Kinslayer's Dagger and a final one in Haddon Mirk, leading to ''Stedding'' Shangtai (TWoRJTWoT, Ch. 15) . In addition to Shangtai, there are eleven other ''stedding'' in the Spine of the World plus one in Kinslayer's Dagger ({{loc|20}}).  In the Age of legends, it was most likely a coast line as remains of what is apparently a port can he seen high in the Jangai pass ({{tfoh|20}}).  Several rivers have their source in the range, including the Erinin, Gaelin and Iralell.

The Spine of the World, also known as the Dragonwall, is a long mountain range running along eastern edge of the main continent, separating it from the Aiel Waste. Four passes run through it, Tarwin's Gap close to the Mountains of Dhoom in the Blight, the Niamh Passes in southern Shienar, the Jangai pass in Cairhien, just south of Kinslayer's Dagger and a final one in Haddon Mirk, leading to Stedding Shangtai (TWoRJTWoT, Ch. 15) . In addition to Shangtai, there are eleven other stedding in the Spine of the World plus one in Kinslayer's Dagger (LoC, Ch. 20). In the Age of legends, it was most likely a coast line as remains of what is apparently a port can he seen high in the Jangai pass (TFoH, Ch. 20). Several rivers have their source in the range, including the Erinin, Gaelin and Iralell.
