The Swift is sleek river trading vessel. The captain is a man named Derne.

Mat and Thom travel aboard from Aringill to Tear. Mat demands speed - for a hefty fee - as he needs to beat Comar to Tear to save the girls. The journey is very quick but the captain vows never to carry anything that can talk again.
