Geography

On the Southeast corner of the Westlands, bordering the Spine of the World.

Major cities/towns

Major cities include Tear(capital) which has the Stone of Tear. Also there is Gadon, a town in extreme southeast Tear on the Bay of Remara.

History

Tear was founded in FY 994 by nobles led by Lord Istaban Novares and Lady Yseidre Tirado. Struggles between the nobles of the same power led to the High Lords as the governing body of Tear. The Stone of Tear was built shortly after the Breaking using the One Power. It had been attacked and besieged numerous times. Tear has also made numerous claims to owning the city-state of Mayene, but all attempts to annex have been fought off.

People

Generally nobles regard commoners as below them and are condescending.

Fashions

Lords wear colorful coats with puffed sleeves. Breeches are tight to show well-muscled legs and are often brightly colored. Soldiers wear red coats, with sleeves ending in narrow white cuffs. Breeches are also tight and are worn tucked into knee-high boots.

Defenders of the Stone wear black and gold coats with puffy sleeves as well as plumes of various colors on their rimmed round helmets to mark officers and under-officers.

Common men wear baggy breeches, with some few wearing coats. The Ladies of Tear wear long dresses with necklines cut to bare shoulders to show considerable bosom. Widows wear white and have been known to wear the color even while their dying husband still lived. Common women's dresses have chin-high collars that reveal nothing, and ankle-high hems.

Customs/Traditions

The use of the One Power is forbidden. Unlike Amadicia, Aes Sedai are tolerated as long as they do not use the One Power. Girls who are discovered to have the abilty to wield the One Power are sent off to the White Tower as soon as they're discovered and are encouraged not to return.

Government

Tear is led by the High Lords of Tear. This council is the governing body of the nation. There is no certain number for them, but there have been as few as 6 and as many as twenty.

Military

Regular military formation. Defenders of the Stone are soldiers who guard the Stone of Tear. There is not too much distinction between regular soldiers and Defenders.
