Summary
Elayne and Nynaeve sneak out of The Light of Truth and head west, in the direction of Luca's menagerie. After five miles Thom and Juilin catch up and the gleeman tells the women he has learned that Pedron Niall is trying to unite the nations against Rand.
When they reach Luca's show, he does not want to take them along, but the promise of one hundred gold crowns changes his mind. However, they have to blend in and perform in the show. Luca introduces them to the showfolk, among them Aludra, the Illuminator, and Cerandin, a Seanchan s'redit handler. Nynaeve and Elayne find out that she had been left behind at Falme. When Elayne offers her protection if she will answer their questions about the Seanchan, Cerandin submits herself to Elayne.
