Dear readers, I hope you enjoyed your holidays and the start of 2014! We thought it would be fun to see what some of our departments have in store for TarValon.net this year, so I asked the senior staff for a sneak-peek (and in some cases I got just a tease!) of what they are planning. I started with our new Director of Marketing, Arie Davion. Arie Sedai has only been on the job for a few weeks and is already hard at work getting things done!

Since she’s new on the job, I asked her what interested her in taking on the Marketing department. Best left in her own words:

“I like to see good work get done. Much of why I wanted the job was not so much the title role, but to be able to see the Department productive and running smoothly. I still like to do the work and make graphics but in general I like working with teams and creating beautiful things together. It's true most of my experience is in the graphic and basic marketing aspect of the Department, but I plan to try and be more involved with the TVT as well. If even just for ideas and feedback.

I love TarValon, it's my home but I also feel invested in the site, and I feel invested in the Marketing Department. Applying for Director was just a natural progression of roles that I've had over the past few years and I'm just really excited to have made that step!”

For 2014, the first thing Arie Sedai mentioned is an upcoming year-long blood drive initiative. While this is a project she started working on in her previous position as Community Care Coordinator, the Marketing department will be providing graphics support.

Marketing will also be working to complete and produce the new Official Ajah and Company logos, which are very close to being done! There’s a new Style Guide in the works, as well as official flyers and printables for people to bring to events.

Arie Sedai is also be on the lookout for new members in the Graphics Department and TarValon Times teams, so feel free to contact her if you’re interested!

I also heard from Sonea Ilandred, our Director of Events and Conferences. She said that plans for 2014 are already well underway, with Britain and Ireland in April, Anniversary Party in May, and hopefully South Pacific for Fall Ball. Please keep an eye on the Events forum for details on all of these events.

Sonea Sedai did ask me to remind everyone to start thinking now about locations for 2015 and to please get your bids in when they are requested!

Sa'areah Britthorn, our Director of Membership, said at the start of the year she has her hands full with many new Admins to “train and whip into shape.” Her words. Good luck Admins!

Sa’areah Sedai said there are some cosmetic changes in the works for the Membership Manual. She also promises “interesting activities” for the membership groups, and citizens – that’s all she would say, while admitting she was purposefully cryptic – we’ll just have to wait and see!

Here at the TVT, we’ve gotten our own secret lair private forum, so that we can plan our editions without giving everything away before our the issues publish.

Following the positive feedback from our “May the 4th” Star Wars themed issue, the team is brainstorming ideas for future theme editions. I’m not telling you what they are, you’ll have to keep reading the TVT to find out!

We are always open to contributions and story ideas from all TarValon members! If you have an idea, please contact our editor, Taelinn Dolivras, at editor@tarvalon.net.

May you all have a happy and healthy New Year!

PS - I'll be back in February with a 2014 update from our Director of Administration, Calypsa al'Nicolai, who was away during the holidays. See you next month!
