Quite simple, because it was my home When I was still a citizen I hated the Red Ajah (from the books), but when I met Morrie I quickly changed my mind and ended up hanging out pretty much only in Red threads So it wasn't much of a question if I'd join Red when I became an Accepted

Brown Ajah Academy History

This was an article originally hosted on the {{brown2}} website in 2003.

Over two years ago something happened that has had an effect on all of our lives. The Tower was created. Now two years ago, the founders had no idea their creation would grow to be so big, so they didn't record specific dates. Some things are lost to us forever, eaten by ezboard's topic pruning or simply never written down because - who's going to care anyway?

We have however been able to pin down the date when the pages were first created, and that is for all intents and purposes the birthday of the Tower.

On March 25, 2001, Mother and her friend Gwendolyn Sedai first connected the Ajah sites with the main White Tower page. The first pages to actually be created earlier that March were the Blue and Green Ajah homepages. (Gwendolyn created the Blue and Mother created the Green). After fiddling around with message board providers they finally settled on Ezboard as the best value (free ;) ). The Boards were all split up then. You had to go to your control center to get from "General" to "The Hall of Novices". *gasp* That's actually more or less what we've gone back to now, only there was no master list on the bottom. The original chat room was a java client called bseen. A (sometimes drunken) good time was had by all. Friendships were forged, members were raised, and Novices were beaten.

In August 2001, we bought the TarValon.net address. Before that our address was a free geocities account, but the ads and limited page editing ability had finally driven us batty.

A major weak point in our layout was the unequal development of the male and female halves of the Tower. The female half came 'ready made' with Ajahs and rivalries already in place. The male half still needed some work. (And members!) In January 2002, the Companies were formed. You can see the progression here. The companies were officially opened for membership on 1/29/02. All existing male members chose a company, and all new male members could join as soon as they became Soldiers.

January/February 2002, our flash made its debut. Basically Mother wanted a movie to open the site with, and we'd just acquired the web design talents of Valorian. Voila, our movie was born.

In July 2002, we got a new front page to match our new flash movie.

In August 2002, we ran into problems with the message boards. A year ago, having 3 people at the boards at one time was cause for celebration. By this time there were at least a dozen people on almost all the time. We'd paid for ezboard gold about 6 months ago, but the money was due again, and the funds did not exist to pay for all five message boards. We decided to pay the fee for just the main message board and move the other forums to that board address. It was very convenient! Not so much clicking and scrolling around to check a few forums, but the different forums lost some of their individualism and ezboard continued to present us with problems.

By September 2002, our average post count per day was triple that of the largest web community: Dragonmount.com.

In October 2002, the Hall shifted its function from advisory to the Amyrlin to overseeing membership. The Hall had been feeling growing pains since the beginning of the site. Hall Sitters are generally active members who want to do something. They've almost gotten more then they bargained for overseeing membership. The Hall now approves new applications, new Novices/Recruits, and new Accepted/Soldiers.

On October 25, 2002, the Senior Membership forum was created. A long overdue and much loved accessory, this was the first forum that allowed the male and female Senior Members to mingle in private.

April 24, 2003: With the ezboard payment looming on the horizon (and at the better part of $1000 dollars, way out of our price range) we moved the boards to their current location at www.sandmashadar.com/tarvalon/masterindex.html. The boards remained undecorated until May 30. Nevertheless, the Tower rejoiced and settled into its new home.

Also on April 24, 2003, our TarValon.net opened up an entirely new phase of membership. Before this date, new members became Recruits or Novices immediately. With the opening of the City of Tar Valon, new members became Citizens of TarValon.net first. The rules governing citizens are much lighter, and it allows people who just want to play with us to be more than visitors without pinning them down.

In May 2003, the main page undergoes another revision. We're not sure exactally what it's going to look like, because it's not quite done yet. LoL

Tower History

Since [[TarValon.net]] was formed in 2001, this site has gone through many changes. Administration is constantly looking to the future and finding ways to continue to expand and grow. Our rich organizational structure is a result of years of policy change and self-evaluation. The most drastic of these changes are decided at the yearly [[Admin Meeting|administrative meeting]].

Membership is always growing as new people join TarValon.net every day. These members move on to become future staff or administrators, serve a term in the {{Hall}} of Sitters, {{bond}} a partner in the fight against the Shadow, and even find life-long love, get {{married}}, and [[Tower_Babies|start families]]. Numerous official real-life events around the globe every year help to solidify the relationships members have formed online.

The face of the Tower today is much different than it was in 2001. But the Tower remains unbroken.
==Formation of the Tower==

The Tower began in 2001, when two friends, Eleyan and Gwendolyne decided it would be great to be a real Aes Sedai and so raised each other. Shortly after, web pages for the {{blue2}} Ajah and {{green2}} Ajah were created, and following that, for each of the other Ajahs, with Eleyan taking on the role of the head of each of those, with the exception of the {{yellow2}} which was created by [[Jayne Thasthon]]. Not long after, the pages were unified under the banner of the White Tower and the first forums created, with new members welcomed.

==Tower Organisation==

Originally, Tower organisation was fairly loose. Primary administration consisted of Membership Administrators who dealt with membership issues and raisings. A few other positions were added over the years as more specialized positions became necessary, such as Mistress of Revels to organize real life events and Mistress of the Watch to maintain the message boards. The Amyrlin Seat would also use this group as well as the Hall of Sitters and Warder Council for general advising. This group was collectively referred to as "administration" and reported directly to the Amyrlin Seat with help from the Keeper of Chronicles and Master at Arms.

In 2004 at the annual Administrative meeting, the Tower implemented a Department structure to manage the growing number of positions required to offer the various services desired by administration. It began with five established departments and has grown and changed and adjusted to the current ten departments we now have in 2010.

When someone aspires to the Red Ajah, we ask them to post a confusing thread in General.

One of the stereotypes is evil, violent Reds. To play with that, some Reds joke around about whipping, waxing, biting, chaining, etc and use pictures of those type things in their sigs. It's a way of mocking the stereotype. Some Reds don't feel comfortable with this and don't do it. Whether or not a Red does this is completely up to her.

When someone is raised to Red Aes Sedai at a big party, we try to get them a bunch of stuff for being the new "Baby Red". It goes along with the "Baby Red" signature that new Red Aes Sedai wear. This usually involves bibs, pacifiers and bottles that must be worn for the remainder of the evening. Of course, this assumes another Red is at the event who remembered to bring the stuff ...

Found an explanation of this one posted by long-lost Red Mar'Alex, the originator of the tradition, on the old boards: Ok. Here is the Story of Barbie as it was.

I was then an Accepted and Masayna Sedai from the Red Ajah was my mentor.

We were in an adult chat playing Thruth or Dare and as I was an Acepted she told me to be there but to behave. So I was sitting in a corner sometimes making bad jokes about what was happening.

She was so tired of me she gave me a Malibu Barbie. I looked at the dool with disgust, but then she offered me a mini-set with torture objects, so I started torturing Barbie. I liked torturing Barbie!!!

She gave me another Barbie then, so I could train my arts on both. And she also gave me a lighter!!! So I melted both Barbies together so they could be really close to one another.

Everyone liked it so much that I stared being known by my Barbies and she set me a Dolls house full of Barbies on the Hallways. There she would give me dools and I would "play" with them and drink tea. Those were good times.

When I went to EuroParty in England I took Barbie with me. Yes, I real Barbie and I tortured her alive. We have lots of pictures of her being tortured. It was to be my Acepted Project.

Barbie even made an appearence on the boards, and she brought to Ken's with her. They were really popular and she never understood why people didn't like her.

She loves Relk (and there are several pictures to prove it) and she lives still in my dugeon, but she escapes from time to time and trouble arises.

As I choose the Red Ajah, Barbie come with me and she even visited my dugeon from time to time. I was from then the Mistress of Barbies.

Oh! I still have the Barbie I took to England, dressed the way we dressed her there. and the pics of it, lots of pics.

{{TV}}'s 4th Fall Ball (held in Albuquerque, New Mexico) successfully kicked of a new era in Tower events! While the Fall Party has been refered to as a "Ball" for several years, the name was given more in anticipation than in actual practice. 2004 saw this change with the communities first-ever formal event.

Check in began on Saturday, and most spent the afternoon and early evening meeting up with one another for dinner or at the hotel bar. At 8:30, opening ceremonies commenced with the traditional Goldshlager Toast, four raisings, and three first-sibling ceremonies. {{Eleyan}}, along with the help of [[Senior Members]], finalized a series of ceremonies (closely based on the text found in "Wheel of Time") that will be used for all real-life raisings from here on out. The evening ended with our "Slave Auction" (where members volunteer themselves to servitude for a day to help raise money), bringing TarValon.Net a few hundred dollars in total.

Sunday morning brought the first qualifying round for [[Sa'sara]] dancers, and judges were impressed by the quality of all candidates. Lunch was served while volunteers taught basic ballroom dancing. Everyone enjoyed a three-hour life-sized modified version of "Trivial Pursuit". This game used live pawns, and included physical challenges, charades, and more than a little bit of chance while teams attempted to collect 7 seals before making their way to the {{Amyrlin}} Seat. The {{Blue}} Ajah won after a difficult and prolonged battle with the {{Brown}}s.

The Ball itself began with a procession and dinner, then progressed to ballroom and swing dancing. However, it wasn't long before the {{as}} were dancing the electric slide and doing the Time Warp. Decorations were lovely, the prize drawings were numerous, and the company unsurpassed.

TarValon.Net's next main event is "Tower Party Australia" to be held in the next few months. The next party in North America will be our [[4th Anniversary Party]] in Denver, Colorado.

Partygoers started arriving as early as Thursday in Albuquerque even though the official events didn't start until Saturday night. People flying in on Saturday arrived as early as 10:30 AM. Fortunately, a shuttle ran between the airport and the hotel.
TarValon.net was constantly represented at Village Inn across from the hotel. As one group was finishing up, another group would arrive. Saturday afternoon was mostly spent either catching up on sleep missed by catching flights or hanging out in the hotel lobby. After splitting up for dinner, we all met in a conference room for the official welcome.

After Mother gave her welcome speech, the traditional Goldschlagger toast went around the table. After the toast were the raisings. Many were raised at the Fall Ball: Kyla Sedai of the Blue Ajah, Cataia Sedai of the Green Ajah, Triste Accepted of the White Tower, and Tian Accepted of the White Tower. We were witness to three first-sibling ceremonies, which bonded Ninya and Vallah as first-sisters, Faeril and Lyoness as first-sisters, and Jakeb and Jasin as first-brothers.

The slave auction concluded the evening. After the auction, the group split up. Some went out on the town, others gossiped in the hotel lounge, and still others gossiped in hotel rooms.

Sunday morning brought the beginning of the official programming. The sa'sara preliminary competition took place. When it was done, the room was openned for a snack and dance lessons. Katarianna and Cathel taught the waltz and swing dancing. After the dance lessons, the White Tower Pursuit game was played. The Blue team, made up of Arisaema, Kyla, Yelenia, and Ninya, won after a three hour competition.

Sunday evening brought the official ball. The head table was announced and entered as a procession. After a toast by Mother, we proceeded to eat. The menu included prime rib, pasta primavera, and chicken marsala as entrees and chocolate mousse as dessert.

After dinner, the dancing began with waltzing and swing dancing. Interspersed in the dancing were raffle drawings for such items as TarValon.net pins, a mousepad, a calendar, and jewelry donated by Jenarra. The two annual awards, the Contributor of the Year and the Philanthropist of the Year, were awarded to Randle al'Ren and Arisaema Draconis, respectively.

A new format for the sa'sara was introduced at the Fall Ball. Participants performed for a select group of judges who chose three finalists. The finalists performed at the ball and were voted on by everyone. Finalists at the ball were Cataia, Katarianna, and Marlinya. Cataia won the vote. Also, everyone voted on the best costume; this title went to Sharradin.

Monday morning brought tearful goodbyes and the onset of post party depression. At the airport, a large group gathered in the observation deck to await flights. In groups or one-by-one, we dispersed to separate airplanes with many hugs and well wishes of friends old and new.
Tower events are always times of reunion though there has been only physical separation. The Tower is very real; it exists through the online work of many people. Real-life events make the Tower physically real, and the Fall Ball was no exception. First-timers felt welcome, and for those who have been to a party before, it was a true reunion. For many who can only go to one party a year, the ball is special and is a time to see old friends, many for the first time.

Tower events are always times of reunion though there has been only physical separation. The Tower is very real; it exists through the online work of many people. Real-life events make the Tower physically real, and the Fall Ball was no exception. First-timers felt welcome, and for those who have been to a party before, it was a true reunion. For many who can only go to one party a year, the ball is special and is a time to see old friends, many for the first time.

==Review==
{{TV}}'s 4th Fall Ball (held in Albuquerque, New Mexico) successfully kicked of a new era in Tower events! While the Fall Party has been refered to as a "Ball" for several years, the name was given more in anticipation than in actual practice. 2004 saw this change with the communities first ever formal event.

Check in began on Saturday, and most spent the afternoon and early evening meeting up with one another for dinner or at the hotel bar. At 8:30 opening ceremonies commenced with the traditional Goldshlager Toast, four raisings, and 3 first-sibling ceremonies. {{Eleyan}}, along with the help of [[Senior Members]], finalized a series of ceremonies (closely based on the text found in "Wheel of Time") that will be used for all real-life raisings from here on out. The evening ended with our "Slave Auction" (where members volunteer themselves to servitude for a day to help raise money), bringing TarValon.Net a few hundred dollars in total.

Sunday morning brought the first qualifying round for [[Sa'sara]] dancers, and judges were impressed by the quality of all candidates. Lunch was served while volunteers taught basic ballroom dancing. Everyone enjoyed a 3 hour life-sized modified version of "Trivial Pursuit". This game used live pawns, and included physical challenges, charades, and more than a little bit of chance while teams attempted to collect 7 seals before making their way to the {{Amyrlin}} Seat. The {{Blue}} Ajah won after a difficult and prolonged battle with the {{Brown}}s.

The Ball itself began with a procession and dinner, then progressed to ballroom and swing dancing. However, it wasn't long before the {{as}} were dancing the electric slide and doing the Time Warp. Decorations were lovely, the prize drawings were numerous, and the company unsurpassed.

TarValon.Net's next main event is "Tower Party Australia" to be held in the next few months. The next party in North America will be our [[4th Anniversary Party]] in Denver, Colorado.

Partygoers started arriving as early as Thursday in Albuquerque even though the official events didn't start until Saturday night. People flying in on Saturday arrived as early as 10:30 AM. Fortunately, a shuttle ran between the airport and the hotel.
TarValon.net was constantly represented at Village Inn across from the hotel. As one group was finishing up, another group would arrive. Saturday afternoon was mostly spent either catching up on sleep missed by catching flights or hanging out in the hotel lobby. After splitting up for dinner, we all met in a conference room for the official welcome.

After Mother gave her welcome speech, the traditional Goldschlagger toast went around the table. After the toast were the raisings. Many were raised at the Fall Ball: Kyla Sedai of the Blue Ajah, Cataia Sedai of the Green Ajah, Triste Accepted of the White Tower, and Tian Accepted of the White Tower. We were witness to three first-sibling ceremonies, which bonded Ninya and Vallah as first-sisters, Faeril and Lyoness as first-sisters, and Jakeb and Jasin as first-brothers.

The slave auction concluded the evening. After the auction, the group split up. Some went out on the town, others gossiped in the hotel lounge, and still others gossiped in hotel rooms.

Katarianna and Cathel taught the waltz and swing dancing. After the dance lessons, the White Tower Pursuit game was played. The Blue team, made up of Arisaema, Kyla, Yelenia, and Ninya, won after a three hour competition.

Sunday evening brought the official ball. The head table was announced and entered as a procession. After a toast by Mother, we proceeded to eat. The menu included prime rib, pasta primavera, and chicken marsala as entrees and chocolate mousse as dessert.

After dinner, the dancing began with waltzing and swing dancing. Interspersed in the dancing were raffle drawings for such items as TarValon.net pins, a mousepad, a calendar, and jewelry donated by Jenarra. The two annual awards, the Contributor of the Year and the Philanthropist of the Year, were awarded to Randle al'Ren and Arisaema Draconis, respectively.

A new format for the sa'sara was introduced at the Fall Ball. Participants performed for a select group of judges who chose three finalists. The finalists performed at the ball and were voted on by everyone. Finalists at the ball were Cataia, Katarianna, and Marlinya. Cataia won the vote. Also, everyone voted on the best costume; this title went to Sharradin.

Erian Boroleos is an [[Aes Sedai]] of the [[Green Ajah]] who sides with [[Elaida]] after the split ({{Prol6}}). She has four [[Warder]]s, but two of them are killed by [[Rand]] after Elaida's Aes Sedai capture him. The other two are named [[Rashan (1)|Rashan]] and [[Bartol]] ({{loc|53}}).

Erian is from [[Illian (Nation)|Illian]]. She is short and slender, and her pale face is like an exquisite oval ({{loc|53}}). She has dark hair and brown eyes, and is beautiful ({{loc|25}}). [[Galina]] thinks that she is "doll-like" ({{loc|53}}).

*Erian, [[Katerine]], [[Coiren]], and [[Nesune]] meet with [[Sevanna]] and two other [[Wise Ones]] to discuss Rand ({{Prol6}}).

== Relationships ==

Erian has four Warders, though two are dead because of Rand. Her two living Warders suffer because they can feel her pain through the bond and because they know that she suffers ({{loc|53}}).

Rand sometimes dreams of being in the box again, being beaten by Galina, Erian, and Katerine ({{acos|33}}). At Dumai's Wells, Lews Therin wanted to still her, but Rand decides that, if he stills her, he wants Erian to know who is doing it and why ({{loc|55}}). She ended up swearing fealty to him because she realizes that they were wrong to kidnap and beat him; she thinks that he must be at the [[Last Battle]], and she wishes to help him get there ({{tpod|29}}). She and the rest of Elaida's Aes Sedai who are in Tear watch Cadsuane as if suspicious of her intentions towards him ({{cot|23}}).

Even though she is only about a year older than Rand, she thinks of him as a child and Egwene thinks she sounds "for all the world like a mother fretting over her son" ({{tfoh|15}}); as such, she is very concerned about him ({{tfoh|52}}). She seems to be especially jealous of her place guarding Rand ({{tfoh|30}}). Being treated like a "long-lost son of ten" annoys Rand; he thinks Enaila is one of the worst to do so, along with Lamelle and Somara ({{tfoh|46}}). When Sulin is injured but won't leave his side, he is somewhat relieved, because he wouldn't enjoy Enaila leading his guard ({{tfoh|44}}). She often lectured him on what she thought would be best for him ({{loc|1}}), though she would never do so in public ({{loc|19}}). Like the other Maidens, she accepted almost everything he did, but was very often concerned ({{loc|3}}). Emares is a [[Tairen]] Lord fighting in the [[Aiel War]]. On the last real night of the Aiel War, he is camped near [[Tar Valon]]. He sends an officer to [[Lan]] with a message that there are five or six hundred [[Aiel]] heading east, and that if Lan's men can form an anvil on the ridgeline referred to as the Hook, his will form the hammer to strike them.

It turns out that Emares undercounted the [[Aiel]], as there are easily two thousand of them. Lan refuses to leave, even when Emares doesn't show up, because he knows that if Emares' men attack without the anvil in place, they will be slaughtered. He thinks that if he can hold on until Emares shows up, they might all be able to get clear. He decides that if Emares fails to show up by the time the Aiel are within two hundred paces, he will try to wheel his company off the ridge and attempt to ride around the Aiel and join Emares.

Emares never shows up, and after the Aiel leave without attacking, Lan tells [[Bukama]] that they are going to speak to Emares.

She and the rest of Elaida's Aes Sedai who are in Tear watch Cadsuane as if suspicious of her intentions towards him. Elza, however, also tries to keep Cadsuane away from Rand. Rand thinks that of all the Sisters who had sworn to him, Elza is the most eager, the only eager one, really ({{cot|23}}).

[[Verin]] thinks that Elza is always very conscious of where she stands with respect to other Sisters, perhaps too much so ({{wh|25}}).

[[Fearil]] is Elza's only Warder. She has spent the last twenty years convincing everyone that they are married, although it is not true. She is strict about his obedience to her orders. She thinks that it is hard to find a man with just the right qualifications for a Warder, but that perhaps she should start looking ({{cot|23}}; {{ch10|24}}).

After receiving harsh treatment at the hands of the [[Red Ajah]], when he learned he could talk to wolves and they wanted to see if it was connected to [[the Power]], he was forced to kill other [[gaidin]] in order to get away from them ({{teotw|23}}). He led a solitary life from that point, with just wolves and the occasional [[Traveling People]] for company, a fact which was reflected in his dress and appearance, clothes made entirely of furs with a beard halfway across his chest ({{teotw|23}}). He has yellow eyes, almost like gold ({{teotw|23}}), with hair down to his waist and a full greying beard ({{wh|1}}).
