I was into Anne Rice in the 80's. I feel I have a legitimate claim to loving vampire books. Yes, I like Twilight. The books. The movies I go to because my mother-in-law makes me.

Hmmm. Well I’ve been around the tower since about 2004 and I’ve been around the
block, as my Who’s Who page can tell you. I ended up in Brown, because the Ajah fit
me. My impression of the Browns was that they are chill and laid-back, with a wicked
sense of humor – this pretty much describes who I am in RL.

I love learning new things and knowing random stuff, like philosophy, scientific
weirdness, and drama-dramz/gossip. My quest for knowledge is all-consuming
hunger; I have to know all of the things! Why? So I can put it all together in my
head and extrapolate ideas for my amusement. My Ajah sisters accept all aspects of
me and aren’t afraid to tell me exactly what they think, good or bad. It’s a drama-
free and non-spammy environment.

As surprising as it may be to people, I am a lot like the Browns in the books. I do my
own thing, evidenced by my eclectic research and interests. I love reading books and
I do daydream quite a bit. I can get really passionate about my research, sometimes
ignoring inconsequential things like food and sleep if something really interests me.
I remember reading in New Spring, that the Blues viewed the Browns as letting the
talents of their Ajah members go to waste by allowing them to do whatever instead
of using them for the good of the Ajah. I want to do whatever I want, in the way that
I think is the best, not in the way that someone else thinks is best.

I know the traditional answer is Verin, and I do love Verin. My favorite, however, has
to be Saerin. She’s got a volatile temper, isn’t afraid to gets into fights, isn’t afraid

Saerin also likes to get to the bottom of things, and can be single-minded about that,
particularly when something has piqued her curiosity. She’s basically like me, and I
love me.

It was just after Crossroads of Twilight had come out. I was looking for information
on the next book and found TV.net. I’d never been on forums before, so it was a new
shiny to play with. I met some very awesome people at a local event in my first
month here, including my first-sister Allin, plus I got a new procrastination tool! I
stayed because of the people.

I’m getting a PhD in microbiology, which sounds cool, but actually involves a lot of
research and patience. My general focus is on learning how viruses interact with the
immune system and determining how we can ‘boost’ your immune system to fight off
viruses better. Basically, the end goal of this is to develop steroids for your immune
system, minus effects. Specifically, I look at fever and how that correlates to patient
outcome in Arenaviruses. I got my BS in biomedical engineering, so another part
of my project is to apply engineering to my microbiology research and sell it to
traditional scientists.

I have some of their traits, but as all the Ajahs are very stereotypical in the books, I wouldn't say I'm just like them.

It depends on the book. I read a lot and love to research, but just topics that interest me. I'm definitely not a daydreamer, but I can become quite absorbed in my studies or the book I'm reading, and not notice what happens around me.

I've been helping with the Brown Bulletin, and also helped with my HoA. Mostly Ajah stuff, but I've taken part in many classes too.

I was in Sweden studying, and I wanted to read something in my mother tongue, Finnish. The selection of Finnish books in the Gothenburg library wasn't too big, so I ended up borrowing the EotW. But I gave it up as a bad book, because the translations were crap. Later I started again in English, and got hooked straight away.

I like Mat and Tuon maybe most. The Seanchan as a nation are interesting, and so are the Aiel.

I've been to Euro summer party last August. I loved it, because it's nice to get to know people from different countries. I think people should come to TV.net functions because this is a RL-based community, and meeting is part of knowing people.

Classical. More spesificly tone colour and spectre-based music from the earlier part of 20th century.

I don't go to movies much, but I've liked Kieslowski's pictures.

I found TV.Net through a link on Dragonmount when I was 12. I waited to join until the day I turned 13- well, that was the plan, but I actually could only wait til a week before. I had a long journey to SM... it took me two years to be raised to Accepted (again, on my birthday- seems to be a theme!), and another two years to be raised to Aes Sedai. I had to take a few extended-LoAs, but every time I couldn't help but coming back because I loved the community and family I found within my Ajah and the site as a whole.

I'm currently a full-time student for another five weeks, when I will be receiving my Bachelors in Accounting and Accounting Information Systems. I work part-time for the Department of Defense right now, and I'll be starting full-time there once I graduate. ==Who Am I==
I'm a writer of many genres, especially fantasy and romance. My current work is a young adult novel about a teenage girl who belongs to a secret time traveling guild. I'm in revision stages with it.

I am obsessed with words in numerous forms and disciplines: languages, historical linguistics, etymology, history of the alphabets, fiction writing, essay writing, journaling, technical writing, graphic design of text, acting through expression of words...I could go on and on. I love studying the stories of words and letters.

I studied ancient languages and civilizations at the University of Iowa. I enjoy singing, acting, guitar and piano. I taught a theater workshop for elementary school kids.

I also started a Wheel of Time singing group with Eleyan al'Landerin called the Flaming Sisters. We dress up as a Brown and Green Aes Sedai and sing WoT-themed bawdy pub songs (during which we are incredibly dignified) and ballads. We write our own lyrics and most of our own music.

I've also written and directed Wheel of Time Interpretive Dance: The Eye of the World, which was performed at Dragon*Con twice and JordanCon once so far. I hope to find time to adapt more of the books.

It was nice. I was about 97% certain I was joining Brown but I also loved being a Junior Member. I taught a class on WoT Prophecies as an Accepted and that was awesome.

In 2003, I worked at a bookstore (where I ended up working four years). One of my friends and coworkers used to tease me about loving romance books so much. I made a deal with him: if I read That Series With Which He's So Obsessed, and I finished it in two weeks total, he had to read a romance of my choice.

That series was, of course, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. When I started it, I didn't like the fantasy genre. When I finished, I was in love and now it's my favorite genre.

I read all nine books at the time in 12 days (I was a student and it was summer), so I won the bet. He never read the romance book and he has Toh to me for this.

I am so Brown. It just suited me the best and was the only ajah I seriously considered.

I never was a citizen, I'm that old. Novicehood, all couple of weeks of it, flew by. I got stuck at accepted level for a year though and loved it.

My brother had bought the first four books and recommended them to me. So I loaned his books and got addicted. Then his books gradually moved into my room. He stopped reading them around book six but I've kept going.

I love books and learning, and my friends in RL are sometiems a bit intimidated by how intense I can get when there's studying to be done. In class discussions I oftn have a tendency to come up with a completely different approach to a question that sometimes stumps others. I'm a museum worker (I've worked in five museums in my time), and a student trying to earn a graduate degree in history/anthropology.

As for movies, I love the adventure yarns, but I also grew up watching all the old MGM musicals (especially Rogers and Hammerstein).

I recently discovered Debbie Macomber's Blossom Street series. Normally I will not touch romance with a ten-foot pole, but this series doesn't really hit you over the head with it. Besides, it's got a yarn shop in the middle of it.

;Why did you choose Brown?
I very quickly became very close to the people already in the Brown Ajah. Mind you, at the time there were 3 of them. We were one of the largest Ajahs. I don't actually have a clear memory of the transition from Novice-hood to being in the Brown Ajah halls. It was a very long time ago!

;Are you like the Browns in the Books?
Mother has jokingly introduced me to people as "Verin". I think this implies a "yes" answer.

;Do you love books and do you daydream a lot?
This actually seems like a silly question to me. "You mean... some people don't do that? ... Weird!"

;How was your time as Citizen/Novice/Accepted?
I was a Novice for a week and Accepted for 5 months (which was simply FOREVER at the time). I had quite a lot of fun, got in a bit of trouble, and invented a "question ter'angreal" with Jorryn Sedai. It was a ter'angreal that caused everyone in its vicinity to ask lots and lots of questions.

;What things do you do for TV.net?
I have been a Sitter, Heart of Ajah (although it wasn't called that at the time), and Head of Ajah. At the moment I don't hold any position other than Aes Sedai, although I anticipate doing more for the Tower sometime in the future.

;How did you get to read the Series?
My older sister recommended it to me. I've been swiping her books ever since.

;Who is your favorite character of the Series? Favorite Nation?
Verin is my favorite character, but I have never been able to keep the nations straight.

I attended Ani '04, Fall Ball '04, Ani '05, D*Con '05, and Ani '06 as well as numerous local functions. I haven't been to a party in much too long, and I dearly miss all my friends. Tower parties are like fluffy bunnies merged with adorable kittens and puppies carrying chocolate and roses. Do you need more reason to go?

;What are your favorite movies?
Star Wars (there are only 3), The Princess Bride, some others I'm sure

;What is the craziest/stupidest thing you've ever done?
Car pooling from central Illinois to Denver, Colorado for Ani Party '05 was pretty crazy. Camping during the Flood of Ani '04 was also crazy, but not my fault.

;What job do you have?
I have on-campus work study with the Computer Center as phone tech support. I don't hate it, far more often than not. I'm actually the student manager of the Helpdesk, making me at least marginally more important than your everyday, run of the mill Helpdesker.

;Do you have a pet?
I had goldfish for a while. My last one finally died last summer after 3 years. I haven't replaced him. Fish are a LOT of work, by the way. I would rather have a cat.

;What languages do you speak?
English. I've taken a number of years of German but to claim that I really speak it would be laughable.

I'm a Psychology major in my Senior year of undergraduate study. The college I attend is simply perfect for me, and I will be very sad to leave.

Graduate school may be in my future, but not right off. As much as in some ways I would like to avoid it, I need to enter the real world and see what happens.

I have lived in Illinois, USA all my life and am contemplating living somewhere else for a while.

As I write this, I am about to celebrate 6 months with my boyfriend, with whom I am madly in love.

Brown is my Home. I feel a sense of belonging around the women in my Ajah, and we are fairly alike in some ways.

Quite so! Absentminded, book-y, a great love for research, an interest in history. If I was an Aes Sedai in the books I would've chosen Brown, I think.

YES!

Citizen - 5 months or so.
Novice - 3 months and two weeks.
Accepted - 15 months, 15 days.

Since 21st of April, 2004. So at the time of writing, three and a half years and some.

;What things do you do for TV.net?
I work as the chat assistant, managing the technical aspects of chat and answer questions, and I work as an operator, so I'm basically a moderator in chat. I also currently work as a liaison between the Online Events team and the IRC Administration. I've also served in the Hall.

;How did you get to read the Series?
Friend of mine recommended them, so I started reading them.

My senior year in high school I hung out with one of my best friends. A guy named Kris. We went through everything together that year, from fighting school cliques to morning sickness and false labor (I was pregnant. Not, it wasn't his, but he was there any way). Through it all, he kept asking me "Have you read a book called The Eye of the World"? I moved away after high school. Married the father of my baby and found myself out of touch with everything I knew in North Carolina. I went to the book store one day to find something to read. I almost grabbed one of my stand by books (something Forgotten Realms, I think) when I spotted this book called "The Eye of the World." Well, it instantly made me think of Kris and I had to have it. Then I read the beginning of the book. I think I finished it that night around 3 a.m. I had to go back for the next the following day. I've been hooked since then.

I was lucky enough to be raised at the Anni Party in 2006!

;Why did you choose Brown?
I chose Brown because I had many friends in the Brown Ajah, and I felt that I fit in there very well. They were welcoming and fun, and I knew that I could be honest and myself with these women without ever feeling awkward.

;Are you like the Browns in the Books?
LOL, sometimes, but not usually. I don't wear rumpled clothes, or study history a lot, but I do have a tendency to browout once in a while.

;Do you love books and do you daydream a lot?
I love to learn about lots of different things, and every time I move my books are the first thing unpacked! As far as daydreaming... Not really. I do talk to myself a lot though.

;How was your time as Citizen/Novice/Accepted?
I had a great time as a Novice and Accepted. I was lucky enough to be given a mentor who lived only 20 min from me and so I lived a RL version of being a Novice and Accepted. It was fun.

;How long have you been a member of TV.net?

;What things do you do for TV.net?
Hmmm... I helped make several gowns and masks for members going to the 2006 Anni Party as my Accepted project, I have served as the Pulse of the Brown Ajah for two years now, and I am a member of the Brown Ajah trying to make others feel welcome and comfortable at TV.net.

;How did you get to read the Series?
I have always read fantasy novels, and I needed something new to read. I went to the book store and just browsed the shelves. I found EotW and read the back. I thought it sounded interesting. After that I was hooked and had to read the whole series.

;Who is your mentee, if you have one?
I do not have a mentee :(

My favorite character is Cadsuane! I love her! I don't have a favorite nation... they all have their interesting quips.

I went to the 5th Anni party in Texas in 2006, and I went to the 7th Anni party in Colorado in 2008.
I recommended that everyone try to make it to a RL function. It is so wonderful to meet the members in RL.

;What kind of music do you like?
I will listen to just about anything.

;What are your favorite movies?
I love the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. It is 5 hours long, but it is great!

;Do you have a pet?
I have 3 cats. Fuzz,Ceilidh, and Geilynn. 1 dog, Phoenix, and two fish, Lucy and Sally.

;What languages do you speak?
Just English. I took a little French in high school, but the only thing I remember is the alphabet, numbers to 10, how to say "I don't speak French", how to say "where is the bathroom?", and how to say "I love you".

;What profession did you want to have when you were a kid?
I wanted to be an actress. I still would love to be an actress, but it is very unlikely to happen.

I am a mother of a beautiful baby girl, Lynnea. I enjoy reading, sewing, baking, painting, and playing with my daughter. My entire family consists of my Fiance, daughter, Fiance's son, and all our pets. We live in Minnesota, USA.

I felt that I was more suited to Brown due to my love of books and my thirst for knowledge and answers.

Somewhat. I am never without a book, no matter where I go, so carrying a small evening bag is never an option! I always record findings of things and have found myself writing notes in the strangest of places (don't ask) because I get all these weird and wonderful ideas. I always have a notebook with me, even when I am in bed there is one on my nightstand.

;Do you love books and do you daydream a lot?
Yes to both answers, although the daydreaming has over the years.

;How was your time as Citizen/Novice/Accepted?
All was great. I don't recall ever having any problems and was only sent to my HoA once for walking through the tower naked and using an invisibility weave.

Since May 2005.

;What things do you do for TV.net?
At the moment, I cannot really spare much time to 'do' things for TV.net, although I would like to.

;How did you get to read the Series?
All in one go. I came to the series late and by that time, ten books had been published. It was my search for the eleventh book that brought me to TV.net

No. I do intend to attend one on the next few years, though.

I tend to consider myself more Rainbow Ajah than anything, but Brown foremost among the other stripes.

A lot of the time, yes. I've always been a voracious bookworm and am addicted to learning. While studying at Michigan State I also worked for the university library and I now work for the University of Auckland on a very Brown map digitization and distribution project.

Yes, and yes. I've always wanted to write my own insanely complicated book series but awesome as it may be in my head, I don't have the focus to actually write a book.

I'm enough of an oldbie that I joined before the city was created. I honestly don't remember much about being a novice or Accepted. At the time I had a lot of my energy directed into other online communities, leaving me mostly a lurker here. I do remember it took me a year (that felt like forever) to be raised to Aes Sedai, and that the Hall turned me down the first time I was put forward because too few people knew who I was.

September 2012 will be 10 years. Wow. It seems a lifetime ago I first met Eleyan and company at Dragon*con 2002.

Right now I'm serving as the Assistant Director of Research. Most of my time in that position so far has brainstorm assistance to the Director and some library editing. I've also served as Treasurer, the Events Committee head for several official parties, and spent two terms as Sitter for the Brown Ajah. I try to contribute to the fandom in obscure ways as well. One summer I convinced my mother to spend several months sewing 3' x 5' flags of the 15 Westlands nations, and to my great pleasure they still get lots of use at Dragon*Con and Jordan*Con each year. 

'''How long have you been a fan of The Wheel of Time and how did you get to read the Series?''' 

It's a pretty funny story, actually. Says a lot about my character in high school. In the spring of 1998 I was a lowly freshman who'd recently changed high schools. Unfortunately for me -- being the bookworm that I was -- the only English class with space available was a class of students who were not blessed with, shall we say, "langage abilities." Most of my classmates hated reading, writing, and anything associated with either of those. So there I was, about a month into a daily routine of beating my head on my desk, when we get assigned an end-of-year book report. We were encouraged to pick any book we wanted so long as it was more than 100 pages, and then a month later we'd present both a written report and an oral presentation. I walked into the school library and immediately went hunting the fattest fiction book I could find. I'll admit it was a bad attitude on my part, but I was determined to demonstrate my disdain at being stuck in the class by showing off. What caught my eye was a beat-up copy of The Eye of the World. I'd not delved into the fantasy genre at that point, but the plot synopsis looked interesting so I decided to give it a try. The teacher was skeptical about the book size but she gave her approval and I plowed through tEotW like candy and went right back for The Great Hunt. The look on my classmates' faces when I plunked down not just one, but two 800-page books on my desk and proceeded to do my report on both was priceless. And, by the time I gave that report, I was already devouring book 4. The rest has been history. I was caught hook, line, and sinker and quit counting the series re-reads I've done since after my 13th time through tEotW.

Moiraine has been my favorite book character since I first picked up The Eye of the World, and she remains so to this day. It was agony waiting more than a decade for her to come back, jumping for every book to find her yet again absent!

This is tougher. I think I'll have to pick Graendal. There's a little piece of me that would like to go totally hedonistic and get away with it.

Favorite book is a toss up between New Spring and The Fires of Heaven. My favorite scene is when Rand reads the letter Moiraine left him after sacrificing herself fighting Lanfear. I'm always a sucker for the greater good, giving up everything to protect someone scenarios.

I think after more than a decade spent immersed in online communities as an Aes Sedai, I really would have to be a part of the Tower if dropped into Randland. It's either that or joining the Aiel.

I was first exposed to TarValon.net when a small group of members attended Dragon*Con 2002. It took meeting one person to convince me to join...Melissa Craib.

I've had 6 great years so far bonded to the amazing Ciaran al'Trystan. He and I orginally met in chat and clicked over our mutual love of highland cows. It's just gotten weirder through the years since.

Alas, I've never had an official mentee at TarValon.net.

I'm going to assume this is just official functions so I don't have to list all of the minor parties I've attended. I attended every Dragon*Con between 2002 and 2008. I was also at JordanCon 2009 and ComicCon 2005 (the year Robert Jordan was there promoting New Spring). Add to that list Fall Ball '04 (Albuquerque), 5th Anni (Corpus Christi), Fall Ball '06 (Toronto), and most recently 10th Anni (Charleston). I have yet to go to a party that I regretted attending. Some have been completely fantastic, some have had major drama, and at some I've had minor meltdowns. That being said, they're like big family reunions and I love going and will continue to attend any opportunity I can. Now that I'm in New Zealand I've got a chance to try and drum up more events for the South Pacific.

I'm an eclectic musicphile and like something of pretty much everything. The only two genres I dislike for the most part are gangsta rap and heavy metal.

I do lots of things. For work I am a Geographics Technician with the University of Auckland's School of Environment. I'm also a full-time wife to Ayendra Sedai, I help with my ex-flatmate's crazy film projects, I read, I watch movies, I play video games (primarily LOTRO and Stronghold 2 these days), and I get out hiking when the weather is good. I also started learning to kiteboard this past summer. New Zealand is a fabulous place for outdoor pursuits!

I work really hard to not be crazy or stupid so I'm not sure how to answer this. Does dedicating the bulk of the last decade to living and breathing a fantasy book series and its associated communities count? Not right now. We desperately want a cat but we put it off until we obtained NZ permanent residency. Now that we have that, our apartment is too small...

Alas, only English. I'd give anything for an immersive set of courses in Scottish Gaelic, though. I've tried teaching myself piecemeal but I get so distracted I forget what I've learned and always have to start over.

Let's see...a small sampling would be A Song of Ice and Fire, Brandon Sanderson's assorted works, Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon series, Brent Weeks' Night Angel trilogy and latest book, Tamir Triad, and I still adore The Chronicles of Narnia. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in Fisheries and Wildlife and a Post-graduate Diploma of Science from the University of Auckland in Geography/GIS. I adore traveling and try to get out and go whenever I can, but all the work that's expected when you're an adult gets in the way of that much of the time. I've lived and studied on 3 continents, I once lost a cassette tape in my teeth, my favorite band is Evanescence, my favorite television show is Xena: Warrior Princess, and I have been told I'd be an awesome person to pair up with Lucy Lawless in a bar. Gray was home. I'm going to quote my aspiration thing 'They made me feel soo welcome! I could hardly believe it! I love spending time with the Grays, and pretty much any time something bad happened to me I know the Grays would help me and I know I got the advice from the Gray Ajah at least once . I think within the first few days of Guesting Gray, I knew it was my home. I just felt so welcome- I didn’t feel like a guest- I felt like part of their family. That was what made me realize that I was home.'

I wasn't active until about a year after I signed up and then I went all out to become an Aes Sedai. I have a family here now that I wouldn't trade or give up for anything.

What is this "real life" you speak of? Seriously, I have returned to school and I am working on a physics degree while working part time in the University's Chemistry Stockroom.

I was lucky enough to be raised at the Anni Party in 2006!

;Why did you choose Brown?
I chose Brown because I had many friends in the Brown Ajah, and I felt that I fit in there very well. They were welcoming and fun, and I knew that I could be honest and myself with these women without ever feeling awkward.

;Are you like the Browns in the Books?
LOL, sometimes, but not usually. I don't wear rumpled clothes, or study history a lot, but I do have a tendency to browout once in a while.

;Do you love books and do you daydream a lot?
I love to learn about lots of different things, and every time I move my books are the first thing unpacked! As far as daydreaming... Not really. I do talk to myself a lot though.

;How was your time as Citizen/Novice/Accepted?
I had a great time as a Novice and Accepted. I was lucky enough to be given a mentor who lived only 20 min from me and so I lived a RL version of being a Novice and Accepted. It was fun.

;How long have you been a member of TV.net?
5 years

;What things do you do for TV.net?
Hmmm... I helped make several gowns and masks for members going to the 2006 Anni Party as my Accepted project, I have served as the Pulse of the Brown Ajah for two years now, and I am a member of the Brown Ajah trying to make others feel welcome and comfortable at TV.net.

;How did you get to read the Series?
I have always read fantasy novels, and I needed something new to read. I went to the book store and just browsed the shelves. I found EotW and read the back. I thought it sounded interesting. After that I was hooked and had to read the whole series.

I am bonded to Rodi Leg'na Krad of VC

;Who is your mentee, if you have one?
I do not have a mentee :(

;Who is your favorite character of the Series? Favorite Nation?
My favorite character is Cadsuane! I love her! I don't have a favorite nation... they all have their interesting quips.

;Have you ever attended any Real Life Functions? Did you like them if you did, and why? (Why do you think people should come to any future functions?)
I went to the 5th Anni party in Texas in 2006, and I went to the 7th Anni party in Colorado in 2008.
I recommended that everyone try to make it to a RL function. It is so wonderful to meet the members in RL.

;What kind of music do you like?
I will listen to just about anything.

;What are your favorite movies?
I love the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. It is 5 hours long, but it is great!

;Do you have a pet?
I have 3 cats. Fuzz,Ceilidh, and Geilynn. 1 dog, Phoenix, and two fish, Lucy and Sally.

;What languages do you speak?
Just English. I took a little French in high school, but the only thing I remember is the alphabet, numbers to 10, how to say "I don't speak French", how to say "where is the bathroom?", and how to say "I love you".

;What profession did you want to have when you were a kid?
I wanted to be an actress. I still would love to be an actress, but it is very unlikely to happen.

I am a mother of a beautiful baby girl, Lynnea. I enjoy reading, sewing, baking, painting, and playing with my daughter. My entire family consists of my Fiance, daughter, Fiance's son, and all our pets. We live in Minnesota, USA.
