Rand's Point of View:
Location: The Pit of Doom
Characters: Rand
Rand hears his father's voice, telling him to let go then Egwene's telling him that he must allow other people to sacrifice as well. He lets go of the guilt at not protecting them and the need to do so. He lets go of the list he had carried, that had once been the women who had died for him, but which had grown into all people who had. Ilyena was the last, and he feels as though a giant weight has been lifted from his shoulders. He stands up once more to face the Shadow.
Shendla's Point of View:
Location: the Field of Merrilor
Characters: Shendla
Shendla looks down to see that Demandred is dead, and announces it. The battlefield seems to grow still.
Rand's Point of View:
Location: the Pit of Doom
Rand looks outside of time and sees the Dark One not as a being, but a force as wide as the universe. He feels more attacks coming from the Dark One, but shrugs them off, thinking that if those fighting won't give in, why should he? He seeks the void and tells the Dark One that he doesn't control the world.\
Mat's Point of View:
Location: the Field of Merrilor
Loial returns to the northern end of the Heights to tell Mat that Demandred and Lan are dead. Mar leads the charge.
