Donjel is a man from Arad Doman. He works as a soldier/scout for Rodel Ituralde.
He is a stocky man with short-cropped, iron gray hair and only one eye. When he was young, someone tried to hang him, and so he now speaks with a permanently hoarse voice. Apparently the missing eye is also the consequence of a youthful scrape.
Ituralde thinks to himself that, one eye or two, Donjel is the best scout he has ever known.
As Ituralde prepares to meet with Dragonsworn and Taraboners to plan attacks against the Seanchan, Donjel rides up to inform him that the other men have shown up and have placed two rings of sentries around the lodge where they are to meet. Before Ituralde rides off to his meeting, he gives Donjel an oiled silk packet, telling him to take it to his wife if he dies; Donjel has carried its like for Ituralde before, usually on the eve of a battle.
