This year at TarValon.Net the Feast of Lights celebration will highlight the causes chosen by our membership groups for The Great Charity Hunt!

In the Wheel of Time, the Feast of Lights is celebrated on the last day of Danu and the first day of Taisham in every nation to mark the beginning of a new year. Lamps and candles are used to illuminate houses. This celebration is one of joy with singing, dancing and general merriment for all. In Cairhien it is the only time of the year when all barriers between classes are dropped. A time when commoners and nobles alike can come together and celebrate.

Here at TarValon.Net the Feast of Lights celebration is normally the time of an annual fundraiser which helps the members embrace being Servants of All. This year TarValon.Net will be using the Feast of Lights to share the causes chosen by our membership groups for The Great Charity Hunt. The Tar Valon Times will be sharing a new dedicated post every week to showcase the causes and how the groups are planning to support those causes over the coming months.

In addition to the highlights and sharing of causes for The Great Charity Hunt, there will also be a thread on the forums where members can share and support each others work as Servants of All. You can also help Share the Joy by posting a picture of something which brings you joy over the holiday season. Joy can be found in the smallest of things, so please stop by and help bring a little more joy into each others lives.

There are also some shiny new badges to accompany the Feast of Lights celebration this year! If you promote, support or just enjoy being a part of the Feast of Lights celebrations this year please feel free to wear these in your signature.

The Brown Ajah & Mahdi’in d’ma Dieb Cause – Kids in Foster Care

Kids in Foster Care is the chosen cause of The Brown Ajah and Mahdi'in d'ma Dieb Company. These groups have already taken great strides in their work for their chosen cause. Alenya Al'Roran (Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah) and another online group have already donated almost 1000 journals to teens in foster care which are being distributed by Calen Velervron (Gaidin of Mahdi'in d'ma Dieb) in Arkansas. Other members have taken in foster children for the holidays and others have sent in gifts. There are also members who are looking into being a contact person for foster children without parents who are living in group homes. Being a person these children can call on and form a bond with. We look forward to seeing all the wonderful ways that these groups are going to help Kids in Foster Care. Check out their thread in the Servant of All forum for updates and ways they are reaching out to those in need.

The Gray Ajah Cause – Justice for the Planet (Climate Change)

Justice for the Planet (Climate Change) has been chosen by The Gray Ajah as their cause for The Great Charity Hunt. Looking after the environment we live in is something that all of us can do. The Gray Ajah has come up with a multitude of ways that they can take steps to help the planet. Some of those include reducing car emissions by driving less and walking/cycling more, increasing recycling and reducing waste in general. They are also planning on making donations of unused clothes and shoes instead of throwing them away. The Servant of All Team are also helping out with locating Not for Profits where they can volunteer their time and donate where possible. Take a moment to check out their thread in the Servant of All forum for ways that you can help too! We wish them the best of luck with their cause and we expect that we can all take their lead and make changes in each of our homes.

Keep an eye out over the next four weeks for information about all the other causes chosen by our community to help during The Great Charity Hunt!
