Btw, there were spelling errors. Bad ones.

Again....

Would you believe?

I've slept about 8 hours total since Sun.

I've been traveling a lot. So please, forgive the typos. I was indeed working off of the official program. I'm just very, very tired.

Now it has sunk in. Mother, truly you have done us all a great service by posting the transcript of his funeral. Having been brought up in a similiar fashion, religiously, I have never been able to get through a funeral without tears-of sorrow, and joy. I was not able to get through the transcript without tears either. I truly hope he is at peace.

Thank you again, Mother

Especially as you were there, and it is not just words on paper to you.

It brought a tear to my eye, not just for the loss of a great man, but also because the service was quite similar to that of my grandfather, who's service was the 16th September last year....

Religion aside, it sounds like it was a wonderful service.

Thank you for posting this Mother. Even despite your own troubles you are always ready for your site You're an inspiration to us all.

Thank you Mother, for taking the time from your own personal grief to share the service with us here on the site.

You didn't have to do it that quickly... I doubt anyone expected you to. Yet you still did it and that says a lot about who you are and how much you care about all of us.

I second your opinion of just how spectacular and unusual it is for a Episcopalian congregation to stand up as a whole and clap and sing. Its truly a reflection of how deeply those in attendance loved and cared for RJ.

I am glad I read this in the early morning hours, before anyone else in the family was awake because it brought tears to my eyes. To my family, WoT is just a series of books and RJ just an author. They don't quite comprehend how the series and RJ is so much more than that to me. I am glad I have my friends here at Tar Valon to share with.

Thank you Mother. This was very touching

Madelaine Vitalia

Date: Fri Sep 21, 2007 4:18 pm

Speaking in general terms, I would expect that since he had a religious service, any military honors were likely reserved for the graveside internment - something only the family and truly close friends would have attended.

At least, this is how it was done at the handful of funerals I've been to where the deceased was both religious and a veteran.

Thank you for taking the time to share this personal experience with us. It's comforting to know RJ was ushered forward with the love and exuberence befitting a gentleman who touched so many hearts.

It appears that people who loved his works are still learning of RJ's passing. This will serve to give those people a glimpse into his world. It's a rare and special gift.

Thanks again Mother. We're exceptionally lucky to have a leader with such heart at a time like this.

I must say that I found it rather strange, to see everybody calling an administrator "mother". Yes I know it's a title from the books, and an important one but still, IRL it's an extremely important person and therefore title, at least to me.

But after this I can say it makes a lot more sense. It is impressive to see your dedication to this community.

Thank you for this Mother. I would say you deserve the title.

Mother, you have just allowed me to cry my grief at the loss of such a wonderful man - before this, I was unable (or unwilling) to admit that the loss has hurt me so deeply. I appreciate and genuinely applaude your ability to put your own loss aside for the benefit of the rest of those who also love RJ.

May the Creator shelter and bless you.

About 10 years ago, I went to a signing with a friend of mine....it was for Crown of Swords. he has been a decade and a half junkie of RJ and now I wish I had caught the series before 2 months ago because I love it through book 2.

I have already arranged with my buddy Ryan to borrow his hardcover 5-11 signed editions to complete my first read-through this fall/winter.

I feel priveleged to have shook the man's hand and read tomes which he has put his pen to.
