Gray Pie of The Month

Potm.jpg

Ajailyn has put together a strawberry pie for us! :joy

Aja's Cooking For Dummies Awesome Strawberry Pie:

Just in time for strawberry season! Spring starts up one of my favorite fruits and here is a pie to go with it! Another easy to make recipe from Aja!

Ingredients

1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked 1 quart fresh strawberries 1 cup white sugar 3 tablespoons cornstarch 3/4 cup water 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Directions

1.Arrange half of strawberries in baked pastry shell. Mash remaining berries and combine with sugar in a medium saucepan. Place saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.

2.In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into boiling strawberry mixture. Reduce heat and simmer mixture until thickened, about 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour mixture over berries in pastry shell. Chill for several hours before serving. In a small bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form. Serve each slice of pie with a dollop of whipped cream.

Gray Exclusive

If there's one thing a Gray loves more than pie, it's... well, being Gray. :P We take a lot of pride in our Ajah and our sisters. For this month's newsletter, we asked our Sisters, Aspirants, Warders and Guests to sum up the meaning of Gray in one sentence.

Arie Tarou: "Being Gray means understanding even the most obscure tastes of humor... including your own. "

John al'Ramin: "Being Gray means knowing the quintessential essence of pie."

Tai Ahn'mahdi: "Being Gray means being made of awesomesauce and being stuck in JoJo's naughty drawer."

Addelyn al'Vera: "Being Gray means never feeling lost because you are surrounded by people that care."

Liiane al'Rhuidea: "Being Gray means being proud of your Ajah, your sisters, and yourself, even when your sisters have to drag that last bit out of you now and again."

Adra Ceana: "Being Gray means being one step ahead of the crowd."

Lijena Tarkand: "Being Gray means being hilarious and random, but always there for someone who needs help."

Iteran Sedai: "Being Gray means being lucky to have people like that in your life."

Ennaraim Lamp: "Being Gray means to lend away a piece of your heart and both of your ears when it's needed."

How long have you been a member?

I've been a member here since June of 2005, so almost 5 years! Time flies when you're having fun!

What do you like the most about being a member?

I think the best thing about the site is how we come together when our members are in need.

Which forum is your favorite?

I'd have to say the OWaH because it be great fun when you get a bunch of people online at the same time and get a good conversation going. It's where you can meet a lot of the new people and get to know them.

Have you been to a real life event? Which is your favorite?

I've been to D*Con 2006, Anni 2007 and I'll be at Anni in Wisconsin in about a week! I don't really think that I could pick a favorite. The way that everyone comes together to help make it a great time for everyone, whether local or an official Tower party, still amazes me.

What do you do in real life?

I'm getting ready to return to college to get my degree as a Medical Insurance Specialist. I'm really excited about it but also a little nervous. It's been almost 11 years since I was in school!

I'm Mom to two wonderful kids, Lexi and Jacob (better known as Dinner to some here). Like everyone else, we have our struggles and frustrations but we have a good time together. I'm married to the most wonderful man in the world, also known as Thalin here!

How are you “Gray” on the site and/or in real life?

I can be diplomatic or "Gray" when I need to be. If someone comes to me with a problem, I try to see it from everyone's point of view so that I can help them to resolve the problem.

What are your hobbies aside from reading?

Thalin and I love to go to Renaissance festivals! We won't miss an opportunity to go to one if we can help it. We've missed it the last three years while we were in Georgia. We are so looking forward to being able to go back and hang out with the many friends that we had made over the years!

What is a quote that you live by/defines you?

I think that would have to be.... "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I believe that if everyone lived by this, there would a lot less drama.

Mind telling us about your recent move?

Everything seemed to fall into place nicely in the initial stages! It wasn't until we got to Michigan that things got a little hairy. All is well though and we are SOO very happy to be back home with our family and friends!

On our way up here we stopped in Atlanta to hang out with some Tower folk. We had an awesome time with Addy and Esteban, Liiane and CC, Niere and John and Serenla! A huge thank you to everyone that came to see us and to my Grays for putting up with my family! We got up insanely early and took off for Michigan the next morning. We drove straight through, with a few gas stops, to Michigan and made it up here around 6-ish that evening. We stopped in Ann Arbor to visit with Mira and Toral, Mashi and her daughter Ana. We had a wonderful surprise when Dovienya, my bond sister, showed up! That made Thalin a very happy Warder!!! We went to a really great restaurant and had the opportunity to visit with everyone for a few hours. We got to my sister's house that night, exhausted from the long drive.

We managed to get moved into our new place within about a day and a half. With the help of a few friends and my family we got the place up to par to move into. We found a refrigerator and stove for only $150 on craigslist and got those put in with little grief. The kids started school the next week and that seems to be going well. It was an adventure but we made it and are happy with our move!

Lijena found a random wheelbarrow for us this month!

Lijwheelbarrow-1.jpg

"It was one boring school day like every other and I went to main hall with friend of mine during break between classes. We were standing there looking around and talking about some random things and then I accidentally saw it! A wheelbarrow in my school! I took my phone and took picture of it thinking of my Grays!"

Gray Memorable Quotes

Quotes.jpg

"I think I have both Brownouts and Gray Moments. I have both the "oooh, this is interesting *reads* *is gone for hours and hours* huh? what? Are you still here?" aka brownouts, and the "I think I just added 4 tablespoons of salt to that instead of sugar" aka Gray Moments." --Ennaraim Lamp

Lii: Arie, you suck for not wearing yours. :tug

Arie:  :( but.... but..... Tyla isn't wearing hers either.....

Lii: If Tyla's sig jumped off a bridge, would yours do it too?

Arie: baaaaaaaaaaaaaa.:sheep

"I do believe that there isn't a good enough emote to represent the tacklehug that I would like to perform on you right now." -- Ita, to Lina

"See, i'm contributing to the gray newsletter by being very quotable!" - Arie

Enna: Sweden is boring to drive in. At least in the north.

Foraek: Heh :p I guess.

Enna: Woods, woods, trees, trees, a house, trees, trees, more wood, trees, *five hours passes*, trees trees ooh. a house. trees trees...

Foraek: Dont forget the reindeers :P

Enna: They are even further.

Ajailyn took one for the team on the way home from Anni, when she stopped to visit the Spam Museum. :lol From Aja:

Spam Blvd!

Spamblvd.jpg

I had attended my first Anni party this year, it was a last minute thing, and I not only managed to get to go, but find a ride with the most awesome Jadira Sedai. On the way up I35 to some other highway in some other state we passed a sign for the spam museum. Being a gray aspirant I was like (yes like) "Oh if I was driving I'd so stop there..." Jadira Sedai said... on the way back! WOOT!

Spammuseum.jpg

Keeping to her promise we did stop on the way back.. It was free to "enjoy" the spam museum, but no free samples, not even a single thread to post upon!

I managed to gross Jadira Sedai and Miliham Gaidin out completely.. ok not me but the museum did. I learned on my grayt spam expedition that spam in that much quantities is gross, the history of it is kinda boring and I'd rather have some Hormel chili than spam; although it is a grayt memory from my childhood, fried spam sandwiches on white bread with best foods mayonaise with my grandmother. The only picture inside worth taking was the spam counter.. apparently we grays and gray aspirants are not only busy in your TV.net thread, but elsewhere online.

That's it for this month! Thanks for letting us share our awesomeness once again. :D
