General

Heirn is chief of the Jindo sept of the Taardad Aiel and a warrior of the Tain Shari, the True Bloods (TSR, Ch. 23; Ch. 57). He is tall, dark and stocky with a leathery face (TSR, Ch. 23; Ch. 49; TFoH, Ch. 41).

Timeline

  • When Amys and three other Wise Ones (Melaine, Bair and Seana) go to Rhuidean to meet Rhuarc, Heirn and some of his Jindo guard them on their way to see that they arrive safely. After he tells Rhuarc as much, Lan muses that he actually meant he came to protect Rhuarc from the Shaido, but it would not have been honorable to say so straight out (TSR, Ch. 23).
  • When Rand returns from Rhuidean and shows his signs, Heirn and the Jindo eye the Shaido warily and when they begin to disperse and go back to their tents, they do the same (TSR, Ch. 34).
  • Rhuarc, Heirn and about four hundred of the Jindo lead the escort of Rand's party to Imre Stand. On their way, they come across a column of peddlers' wagons. When Mat sees Heirn's stony expressions upon glimpsing the wagons, he thinks aloud that he had heard peddlers, gleemen and Tuatha'an may enter the Waste unimpeded. Heirn replies peddlers and gleemen are welcome and when Mat asks, what about the Tinkers, the sept chief's face grows even darker (TSR, Ch. 36).
  • When they stop for the night and trade with the peddlers begins, Mat is startled to find Heirn inquiring after tabac from the Two Rivers (TSR, Ch. 37).
  • Five miles east of Cairhien, Heirn and some other sept chiefs have a gathering with the clan chiefs and representatives from the societies (TFoH, Ch. 41).
  • He scouts with Rhuarc and Aviendha, watching refugees and deciding they are no threat (TGS, Ch. 3).
