Overview

Honour Guards are staff positions in the Department of Membership. They serve as assistants to the Company Commanders. They are the male equivalent of Hearts of Ajah.

Department: Department of Membership

Position Level: Staff

Rotation: Approximately every six months

Merit Eligibility: Staff Merit

Chain of Command

The Honour Guard reports to the Company Commander.

Duties and Responsibilities

The day-to-day role of the Honour Guard can vary slightly between Companies. Generally, an Honour Guard helps boost the Company's morale, while the Company Commander handles the more administrative needs of the Company.

In most Companies, an Honour Guard:

  • Supports the Company Commander
  • Acts as Company Commander if he is temporarily unavailable
  • Is a co-administrator of the Company's Great Room and Chambers forums
  • Monitors and actively participates in the Company's Room and Chambers
  • Closes threads with an excessive number of pages and opens new ones
  • Helps build relationships between the Company's guesting Soldiers, Aspirants, Gaidin, and bonded Aes Sedai
  • When needed, provides recommendations and does research when the Company Commander is considering raising an Aspirant to Gaidin

The Honour Guard can also act as a substitute Warder Councillor in certain situations. Some Companies will not allow an Honour Guard to also be a Warder Councillor for this reason.

Requirements

The day-to-day role of the Honour Guard can vary slightly between Companies. Generally the requirements are:

  • Must be a Gaidin of that Company in good standing
  • Must be able to commit for the entire term
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to work closely with the Company Commander
  • Generally, cannot be a Warder Councillor at the same time

Some Companies may have additional requirements.

Time Commitment

Generally, Honor Guards serve for 6 months, but this can be flexible depending on the Company.
