I joined a Star Wars club online right out of high school. One of the few women I met there introduced me to TV.net (she's not around anymore afaik). I joined and forgot about it for a year until I got an email about being deleted from the forums. I resigned up and never looked back.

Until I turned 18 I didn't do much online other than check email. I played a lot of computer games but I didn't really understand that there could be fun things to do online. This makes me sound like I'm from the Dark Ages but I read a lot instead and played video games. When I graduated my brother told me about a website he'd found, The Dark Jedi Brotherhood (can you insert a hyperlink here too?). We had grown up big fans of Star Wars because of our Dad and watched the movies at least once a year. When I was still pretty new to the DJB one of the other members, one of the few women, as helping me find artwork for an avatar and told me I couldn't use a specific one. I asked why and she pointed out she used it here at Tv.net. I checked out the site and joined up but for some reason, probably because I was way more involved at the DJB to have time for it, I promptly forgot about tv.net. I don't even remember what nick I used at the time. A year later I got an email from tv.net. It was Mother emailing out one of those Year in Review things I forget the name of so I returned and signed up and this time...I stayed. There were two things that really kept me. First, chat was awesome. I was on chat every day and I talked a bunch. As for the second? I joined in October of 2006 that second time and decided to go to Anni the next year. So a few months later after bidding my family farewell and assuring them I wouldn't be ax-murdered I traveled to Colorado to meet my online friends in person. Contrary to chat, I was very quiet in person and I remember blushing hard when Mother pointed out that I was a newbie. I think the easy part is wanting to stay and find your community group and get raised to Senior Member. The hard part is staying at the site when you don't have much more to strive for. But I will always, always attend live events. See you next Anni! (I"ve been to every Anni party since I joined :D)

Tower Sworn Interview

November 28, 2015

Why did you choose Brown?

It felt like home, I never wanted to leave... so I didn't. The conversations are interesting, I share the same humor, I felt comfortable enough to be open and I could pop in and out as I was able and never felt awkward for my unexpected absences. I am pretty terrible on my grammar game though.

Are you like the Browns in the books? Do you love books and have a tendency to daydream?

Pretty much. I go through periods when I'm super interested in a subject and research everything I can find on it. Once that craving has been satiated my interest is usually piqued in another subject and I move on.

Do you have a favorite Brown Ajah character from the novels?

Verin, I mean duh, she's awesome. I would totally Verin it up if I was in WoTland.

How long have you been a fan of the Wheel of Time series?

Since I was about 12.

How did you first get into the series?

My father was reading the books and I stole them from his library to read. They were big fantasy novels, my favorite at the time.

Who is your favorite "hero"?

Egwene, I love her character arc. I really disliked her the first few books and then grew to love and admire her.

Favorite bad guy/gal?

Nolan, the Aiel who tried to court Faile and help her and was brutally murdered by Perrin.

Favorite book and scene?

The Gathering Storm, when what Verin has been up to has been revealed to the readers.

If you were set down in Randland, who/what would you see yourself as? An Aes Sedai? Innkeeper? Seanchan Captain?

Altaran Kin

How did you find TarValon.Net and what convinced you to stay and become Tower Sworn?

I joined a Star Wars club online right out of high school. One of the few women I met there introduced me to TV.net (she's not around anymore afaik). I joined and forgot about it for a year until I got an email about being deleted from the forums. I resigned up and never looked back.

What do you do in "real life"?

I pack books for a bookstore chain.

Do you have any hobbies?

Trying new tea, baking and writing.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

Almost everything, lately it's been a lot of country though.

What are some of your favorite movies/television shows?

Star Wars, Star Trek, BSG: Reimagined, Firefly, 007, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

Aside from The Wheel of Time, what are a few of your favorite books/series?

I'd rather go by authors: Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, JK Rowling, Kameron Hurley, Gail Carriger, NK Jemisin
