What is the Executive Branch?

The Executive Branch houses those who report directly to the Board of Directors or the Officers at TarValon.Net, Inc. It consists of the Department Directors and the Officers. The structure of the Executive Branch was solidified after the Keeper of the Chronicles became the COO in 2006.

Duties of the Executive Branch

Officers

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) handles all responsibilities of the President as laid out in Article IV of the Bylaws (PDF). The CEO steers the large ship that is our community. He or she is the public face of the administration, striving to be active within the community and is responsible for all of the major changes that occur within our community and handles large-scale decisions that affect policies and guidelines. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and is known within the community as the Amyrlin Seat.

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) handles all responsibilities of the Vice President as laid out in Article IV of the Bylaws. The COO is responsible for taking all of the daily tasks involved with running a community of our size and making sure they work. He or she manages the Department Directors and has an indirect hand in what goes on in the Departments. The COO reports to the CEO and is known within the community as the Keeper of the Chronicles.

The Chief Financial Officer handles all responsibilities of the Treasurer as laid out in Article IV of the Bylaws. The CFO is responsible for all of our budgeting, financial reporting, and tasks related to the corporation's assets. The CFO reports to the CEO and is known within the community as the Shatayan.

The Secretary handles all responsibilities of the Secretary as laid out in Article IV of the Bylaws. The Secretary is responsible for handling the paperwork for the corporation, as well as the archives and records. The Secretary is known within the community as the Tower Archivist.

Department Directors

The staff at TarValon.Net are in seven Departments. Each department has a department Directors, who is responsible for their respective Department and for giving advice to the Officers, should they ask for it. They report directly to the Keeper, with the exception of the Director of Research and Records who reports to the Archivist. Staff

Each Officer may have staff that serve directly underneath them; such staff are considered non-Departmental staff, not staff within the Executive branch. Such staff include the Hall and personal assistants.

It is not appropriate to contact an Officer directly regarding any issue in the Tower unless all others under them in the Chain of Command have been accessed in turn and given the necessary time to reach a resolution. The Officers place their full confidence in the administrators and staff in all Departments, and are only to be contacted as a last resort.
