Maredo
Maredo was one of the twenty-four nations that arose either during or shortly after the War of the Hundred Years. It was located in the southern part of the Westlands, with Illian to the west and Tear to the east, where the Plains of Maredo are now located (TWoRJTWoT). After Maredo disappeared, the borders of both Illian and Tear expanded and then slowly fell back (LoC, Ch. 20).
The capital city of Maredo was Far Madding, which still exists today. When Maredo still stood, the First Counsel of Far Madding advised the queens of Maredo; since Maredo has disappeared, the First Counsel generally believes herself to be heir to the rulers of Maredo (WH, Ch. 24).
