Cal: A man from Chachin, Kandor. He serves Ines Demain. While Moiraine and Siuan are staying at the Aesdaishar Palace, he unknowingly aids Siuan in finding out whether Rahein Demain is the Dragon Reborn. (Character references: Chapter 24, Chapter 25)

Chesmal Emry: An Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah, originally from Ghealdan. We learn later in the series that she participated in questioning and killing Tamra Ospenya. Elin Warrel: A novice of the White Tower. While Moiraine and Siuan are standing attendance on Tamra and Gitara at the beginning of the book, Elin is on duty in the anteroom of the Amrylin’s rooms in case any messages need to be delivered. (Character references: Chapter 2)

Elis: A woman who lives in Chachin, Kandor. She works in the Aesdaishar Palace. (Character references: Chapter 25)

Ellid Abareim: An Accepted of the White Tower. When Moiraine and Siuan reach Chachin, they search out Ines Demain to discover whether or not her son is the Dragon Reborn. Lan Mandragoran: The son of the last king and queen of Malkier, Akir and Leanna Mandragoran. He is known as the uncrowned king of Malkier and a diademed battle lord. He fights against the Aiel during the Aiel War, and after the fighting has ended, plans to return to fighting against the Blight. He and Bukama ride to Canluum in Kandor, and then on to Chachin. In Canluum they meet up with Ryne Venamar and on their way to Chachin, they are joined by Moiraine Damodred. In Chachin, Lan aids Moiraine when it is discovered that Merean Redhill is of the Black Ajah; he fights Ryne, who is actually a Darkfriend, while Moiraine battles Merean. At the end of the book, Moiraine bonds him as her Warder. Moiraine Damodred: A Cairhienin noblewoman; she is the daughter of Dalresin Damodred, the nephew of Laman, Aldecain and Moressin Damodred, and the sister of Anvaere and Innloine Damodred. During the course of “New Spring”, she is an Accepted of the White Tower and later raised to Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah. As Accepted, she and her close friend Siuan Sanche hear Gitara Moroso give a Foretelling that the Dragon has been reborn. After being raised to Aes Sedai, Moiraine sets out on a hunt for the Dragon Reborn and travels all the way to Kandor on her search. On the way to Kandor, she meets up with Lan Mandragoran, Bukama Marenellin and Ryne Venamar. In Kandor, she is responsible for routing out the secret that Merean Redhill is of the Black Ajah and for killing her. At the end of the book, she bonds Lan as her Warder.
