Overview

Members of the Onlin Events Team hold staff positions in the Department of Online Events, working with and for the Online Events Coordinator.

Department: Department of Online Events

Position Level: Staff

Rotation: 6 month rotation

Merit Eligibility: Staff Merit

Chain of Command

The members of the Online Events Team report to the Online Events Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the planning, preparation and execution of our two annual freeweeks as well as other events. This can include coming up with ideas for activities, creating graphics, writing, etc.
  • Assist in running chats for events.
  • Send out birthday greetings to our members.
  • Create/alter graphics/avatars, etc.

Expectations

  • Must be able to follow through with whatever tasks you volunteer for or are assigned to do.

Time Commitment

  • Must be able to spend approximately 2-3 hours a week on the boards for planning, and more hours as needed during events.

Qualifications

  • Member of TarValon.Net for 3 months of any rank, Citizen to Amyrlin Seat.
  • Experience and skill with graphics, creative writing, leadership or event planning is a plus, but not an absolute necessity.

History

The Online Events Team was created in early 2006 when the Department of Membership Services created three service areas. It moved to the Department of Community Development when the department was split and was renamed as the Outreach Activities Team when parts of the department were merged with Department of Philanthropy to form the Department of Community Outreach.

In March 2022 the Department of Community Outreach was disbanded and the team was transferred to th new Department of Online Events, in the process returning to its former name.
