After Mat leaves, he notes to Rand that Mat probably lost a lot of money. After defeating several of the monsters, it seems that Perrin gets into a fighting rage and accidentally hits his wife with the axe, resulting in her death.

Perrin Aybara is a young man who was born in and had grown up in the village of Emond's Field in the Two Rivers. He is married to Laila. Perrin's closest friends are Rand and Mat. Not much is known about Perrin's family.

While Perrin was growing up, he showed interest and capability to do blacksmithing and along with his wife Laila, work in the forge in the village.
