Rand lives a peaceful life with his father Tam up in the mountains next to Emond's Field. Rand and his father go to the village to bring brandy for the festival of [[Bel Tine]]. In the [[Winespring Inn]], Rand is drinking with his friends Perrin and Mat, when he finds out about the war in [[Ghealdan]]. Egwene then enters the inn, after she has passed her ceremony, which marks her as a grown woman. However, Egwene doesn't look at Rand and he is confused. During the evening they talk and Egwene tells Rand that {{TVname|Nynaeve al'Meara|Nynaeve}} has asked her to become her apprentice. This would make it so that Egwene cannot marry Rand.

After pounding at it several times however, Rand somehow breaks down the door and runs away. After being chased through the village by Dana, Rand is finally saved by the gleeman, who kills her with a dagger. Together, Rand, Mat, and Thom leave the village before the Fade arrives.

Rand al'Thor is one of the main characters in the book and television series The Wheel of Time. In the TV show, Rand is played by the Dutch actor Josha Stradowski.
