Salya is a character from stories that are told by Gleemen, like Thom. Apparently, she walked among the stars, and her father Lenn flew to the moon in the belly of an eagle of fire .
Thom says that the stories of Lenn and Salya are old, from the Age before the Age of Legends, or perhaps even older
