Outline

The Two Rivers folk are now all gathered in Tar Valon, but need to leave to the Eye of the World. The Hall of the Tower meets and the Amyrlin Seat passes jugement on Moiraine - exile from the White Tower.

Summary

The episode begins with young Siuan and her father going fishing. During their fishing trip Siuan channels to help her father, but when they come back to their hut they see it has been burned down. Because channeling is outlawed in Tear (Nation), this leaves them no choice but to send Siuan to the White Tower.

After the intro, we see Moiraine, Alanna and Liandrin, along with other Aes Sedai, standing in the Hall of the Tower, while the Keeper of the Chronicles, Leane Sedai, announces the entrance of the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan Sanche.

The Keeper orders for Logain, the False Dragon, to be lead in and he is placed in chains infront of the Amyrlin Seat. Then the Amyrlin orders for him to not be executed, but instead live on as an example of what happens to men who dare channel or declare themselves the Dragon Reborn.

After Logain is taken away, the Amyrlin scolds Liandrin for gentling the man before his trial in the White Tower. Liandrin is to take a penance, however in return she accuses Moiraine of not being honest with the other Aes Sedai and claims that she is the one who needs to be punished. After being questioned by the Amyrlin, Moiraine refuses to say what she has been doing outside of the Tower for over two years, which also earns her a penance and that will be announced the next day.

Outside the White Tower, in the city of Tar Valon, Moiraine finds Rand and Mat in the inn that they are staying in. The Aes Sedai finds the dagger which Mat took from Shadar Logoth and heals him from his connection to it. Rand thanks her, but she warns him that Mat should stay away from the dagger in the future, or else he might be lost to the darkness in it forever.

Later Moiraine meets with Maigan, possibly the Blue Ajah’s head of eyes-and-ears, who asks her to beg the Amyrlin Seat to let her stay in the Tower to help the Blues’ purposes. Then Moiraine receives a signal from a Yellow Sister that Egwene and Perrin are in Tar Valon. Egwene tells Moiraine that Perrin had golden eyes and wolves were listening to him, but in return the Aes Sedai cautioned her to tell no one else of this.

In the evening, Moiraine masks her bond with Lan and uses a traveling ter’angreal to a place where she meats Siuan in private. Moiraine reveals that she has found five people who might potentially be the Dragon Reborn. Siuan tells her that no one should suspect that they have been working together to find the Dragon. However, Siuan has had bad dreams recently, of the Dark One being weakened. They decide that they should take Moiraine’s five to the Eye of the World. Moiraine tells Siuan that her Amyrlin penance should be exiling Moiraine from the Tower.

During the morning on the next day, Liandrin reveals to Moiraine she knows about the other Two Rivers folk, Moiraine meets with Loial and she later takes Nynaeve and Egwene before the Amyrlin Seat in her chambers. The Amyrlin tells them that the Last Battle is coming, and they will have a role to play in it.

In the Hall of the Tower, the Amyrlin Seat passes her judgment on Moiraine – exile from the White Tower. To make sure that Moiraine will keep her promise to stay away from the Tower, she swears an unbreakable oath on a ter’angreal called the Oath Rod.

After leaving the Tower and the city of Tar Valon, the exiled Aes Sedai meets her Warder, the Two Rivers folk and Loial by a Waygate. She tells them that they must travel to the Eye of the World, where the Dark One’s prison is. They must strike at him while he is weak or else the world will be enveloped by darkness. She opens the Waygate and lets everyone go in. Just before the Waygate closes they see that Mat hasn’t followed them inside.
