General

The Tarasin Palace is a palace in Ebou Dar.

With four stories, the gleaming white palace is the tallest around, filling one entire side of the Mol Hara Square. Deep, snowy white steps ten spans wide lead to great arched doors covered in beaten gold and carved in coiling patterns. Screened balconies of white-painted wrought-iron wind around tall spires banded in red and green tiles and every window looking outside is kept shuttered (TWoRJTWoT; ACoS, Ch. 16).

The inside of the palace is very colorful and different at every turn. "In one corridor the ceiling was painted green and the walls blue, in another the walls were yellow and the ceiling pale rose" (LoC, Ch. 48), and in yet another broad corridor the high ceiling is blue with yellow walls, while somewhere else the walls are pale red and the ceiling green. "Wherever hallways crossed the floor was a mosaic of tiny tiles, intricate swirls and scrolls and loops" (ACoS, Ch. 16).

Some walls are covered with silk tapestries displaying scenes of the sea and carved crystal bowls, small statues and fine, colored Sea Folk porcelain fill arched niches. Gates in the palace lead to various courtyards or to the gardens in the middle of the large structure (TWoRJTWoT; ACoS, Ch. 16).

After the Seanchan invasion, damane are kept in kennels at the very top of the Tarasin Palace (WH, Ch. 20).

Servants wear the livery of House Mitsobar; for women it entails a white dress with a deep, narrow neckline, a snug bodice embroidered on the left breast with a green Anchor and Sword and skirts sewn up to the knee on the left to expose green petticoats. While men wear white breeches and a long green vest over a white shirt with wide, pleated sleeves (LoC, Ch. 48). Servants include Haesel, Jen, Carin, Matilde, Bren, Madic and Laren (ACoS, Ch. 16).

After Tylin's death, Beslan inherits the palace as current ruling monarch (CoT, Ch. 3).
