General
Ailene Tolvina is the innkeeper of The Evening Star in Chachin, Kandor. She is lean, with a stern manner about her (NS, Ch. 23).
She is not impressed by fine silks or much money and she has some strict rules at her inn (NS, Ch. 23; NS, Ch. 24).
Timeline
- On her search for the Dragon Reborn, Siuan stays at The Evening Star, where Moiraine later moves in, too. She had no objections to Moiraine sharing a room with Siuan, since there was no space available at the inn, as long as the extra silver penny is paid (NS, Ch. 23).
- Mistress Tolvina recommends to Moiraine a reputable banker and sends two of her "watchers" to escort her for a fee that doubled their daily income, as Moiraine puts it (NS, Ch. 24).
- When Moiraine asks for a good seamstress, Mistress Tolvina gives her the address of the best one in Chachin (NS, Ch. 24).
Quotes
"Why? If you've gotten yourself engaged in a duel, I'll have no part of it. A fool thing, these whip-duels and the like, and I'll not abet you. You'd just come back lashed bloody, in any case. I certainly doubt you've ever fought before." (Mistress Tolvina when Moiraine wants to hire two of her men for escort; New Spring, Chapter 24)
