This month, with Halloween right around the corner, we look at alternatives to store bought decorations. Why not create unique decor for your house and party?

Crochet Ghost Coasters and Candy Bowl

Planning a Halloween Party for friends? Why not forgo the commercially bought decorations this year and decorate your homes this Halloween with these adorable Ghost coasters and candy bowls. Instructions are available through those links, but here is what you'll need:

Ghost Coasters

  • 1 skein each of Red Heart Super Saver in 312 Black and 316 Soft White
  • Crochet Hooks in 5mm [H - 8 US]
  • Yarn needle
  • black embroidery floss

Ghostly Candy Bowl

  • 1 skein each of Red Heart Super Saver in 312 Black, 316 Soft White, 254 Pumpkin and 3620 Gloworm.
  • Crochet Hooks in 5.5mm [I - 9 US] and 3.75mm [F - 5 US]
  • Yarn needle
  • Stuffing
  • black embroidery floss

Jack Skellington Halloween String Garland

Decorate your home with the Spirit of Halloween, Jack Skellington.

This will take about an hour, and would look great in a window or above the fireplace. Instructions on constructing the garland can be found here.

What you will need:

  • White cotton string
  • Black felt
  • Water balloons
  • Liquid fabric starch
  • Regular paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
