General

Deain was an Aes Sedai in Seanchan during Luthair Paendrag Mondwin's conquest.

She invented the first a'dam in order to win Luthair Paendrag's favor. At that time he was facing the native channellers and the strange creatures that came to be called the Armies of the Night, because they were believed to be Shadowspawn.

She was later collared herself and it is said that her "screams shook the Towers of Midnight".
