Babywearing Part 2

So last time we talked I mentioned Woven wraps and sizes plus carries. When it comes to figuring out which one you want it can be difficult. Not because it’s hard to find one but the fact that there are so many to choose from. Some are really expensive others not so much. Here are several options for babywearing.

Now... onto Ring Slings

Ring slings are one shoulder carries. It has a pair of metal or nylon rings that the end (or tail) is threaded through and is able to be easily adjusted. These come in all kinds of fabrics and even some woven wraps have been made into ring slings.

Why would you want a ring sling? For starters if you are nursing a ring sling is very easy to position your baby and cover up while your baby feeds. Also when you have a toddler and run out to the store you can use them for quick ups. However you cannot walk around all day with a baby in a ring sling. The most obvious reason is that you stress one shoulder. I personally have tried one and I think if I had started sooner I would have really enjoyed it.

Mei Tie

Pronounced “may tie” is the most popular of a group of modernized traditional Asian-style baby carriers. It has a panel of fabric with two shorter straps that go around the waist and two longer straps to wrap over the shoulders. Some can be padded and have wider straps for extra comfort. This carrier can be easily shared between people without having to worry about buckles. Ideally this carrier is used for older babies but can safely snuggle a new born. This would be the one carrier that I haven’t tried. Not that I think it’s bad just never got a chance to try it. It looks like a very comfy carrier and I see why people love them.

Next up is Soft Structured Carriers, but you'll have to wait for next month to read about that.
