The Shadow Rising is probably my favorite of the books. Learning more about the Aiel and the related events really was fascinating. Really cool revelation. Favorite scene is much more difficult. Somehow got a degree in Communications. Spent lots of time in Irish pubs in Boston for the following 5 years; not drinking, playing with Irish musicians. Moved to Maryland and taught high school for 3 years. Loved the students. The "grown ups" sucked. Worked and lived at Pimlico Racetrack for 2 years, taking care of the racehorses. (It was a toss-up between this and signing on as a crewmember fo the sailing ship, The Bounty.) If I could have made my living at it, I'd have stayed. Major loss in salary and ability to keep up with technology, but totally worth it. Worked for an odd little IT company for 4 years.
