Laren is a high-ranking servant in the Tarasin Palace in Ebou Dar, Altara. She is round with dark eyebrows, nearly black eyes and a touch of gray at her temples (ACoS, Ch. 16).
She wears a marriage knife, indicating that one of her five daughters and two of her four sons are dead (ACoS, Ch. 16).
Madic takes Mat to her when he wants to see Elayne and Nynaeve. She disappears out of sight when they confront Teslyn and Joline. She reappears, however, to summon Mat to Tylin. He is glad that she comes to save him from the Aes Sedai, but Laren assures him that the Queen really wants to see him (ACoS, Ch. 16).
