General

Master Roidelle is the mapmaker in the Band of the Red Hand. He is graying, round-faced, with a bulk straining his coat and a fast, musical accent.

He already had a lot of maps of the whole Westlands and has been making new ones with his assistants (the best to be found according to Talmanes), since the Band crossed the Damona Mountains. Although he is a master map maker, he is not accomplished at identifying where he is based simply on a map (TGS, Ch. 20).

He acquires only the best maps and his own are very good, too; Mat thinks he recognizes a place between two gently sloping hills as if he had seen it before (KoD, Ch. 27).

Mat and Tuon want to talk to him; a few minutes later Master Roidelle appears with six of his assistants carrying all the maps of Altara they have in tow. Tuon wants to see the maps with the Seanchan camps. When Mat squats before them, Master Roidelle sends one of his men to fetch him a stool, as his bulk does not support squatting. Mat asks him about the camps to be seen on the map and also wants to know where the soldiers are.
