Merit Badges
One of the key items on the 2010 Admin Meeting was the topic of Merit Badges.
Intended as rewards for continued and dedicated service to TarValon.Net the total list of badges is not available as yet. A Merit Badge Focus Group was set up to discuss the number and requirements for badges.
While a reward in itself, merit badges may also used to determine other rewards members could receive. For example discounts to Tower Parties and relaxed bonding rules are two rewards under discussion for members with all the necessary merit badges.
Merit badges will be attainable by members of all ranks though some may only be attainable by members of certain ranks and none will be easily attainable. They will be designed to recognise the members who go above and beyond normal service, typically only the top 2-5% of people contributing in a given area will earn the badge.
Examples of merit badges under discussion include;
- Member for 5 consecutive years
- Senior Member for 5 cumulative years
- Serving in the Hall for 5 terms
- Event leadership at 10 events
- Attendance at 20 events
- 5 years as a Moderator or Chat Op
- Gives to 15 fundraisers (regardless of amount)
- 100 Articles in the Library
- Receives an Annual Award from the Amyrlin
