Overview

Moderators are a staff level position that handle Discord and the Forums and address any violations of the Community Guidelines

Special Positions

Two positions within the moderation team are only active when the discuplinary procedure escalates beyond editing posts and into potential consequences for the member when an incident enters the "Continued Action" phase of the discipline process. Members may also request these at the initial stage, but the activation under those cirumstances is under the discretion of Moderation. These are the Chair of Rebuke and Seat of Pardon

Chair of Rebuke

• Focuses on applying the Community Guidelines and the Discipline Guide to actions that occur on the forums and in Discord
• Makes recommendations to the Director in consultation with the Seat of Pardon

Seat of Pardon

• Focuses on advocating for members who trigger moderation action
• Reaches out to accused members to get their side of the story
• Makes recommendations to the Director in consultation with the Chair of Rebuke

Chain of Command

The Moderators report to the Director of Moderation.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Periodically checking the forums to ensure everything is running smoothly. Moderators are not expected to read every single thread, but to be generally aware of forum activity.
• Handling reported posts in the forums.
• Working with the other Moderators to resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise.
• Handles forum and Discord actions such as closing threads, requesting edits, editing posts, and deleting posts
• Logs actions within moderation spreadsheet to track what has occurred with specific members
• Activate the Chair of Rebuke and Seat of Pardon should the need arise.

Qualifications

• Must be a member of at least 3 months in good standing.
• Must check the boards regularly.
• Must possess tact and discretion.
• Must be willing to learn how to use Xenforo moderation actions.
• Must be willing to turn on 2-factor authentication on your forum account for the duration of your service.
• Must be willing to remove all users from ‘ignore’ on the forums and keep them that way for the duration of your service.

Disqualifications

There will be no overlap with specific roles/areas of the site. If you hold a moderator position, you will be ineligible to hold such positions as the following:

• Board of Directors
• Executive Level Position
• The Hall
• Company Commander / Head of Ajah
