Taien

General
Taien is a moderate sized high walled town in Cairhien next to the Jangai Pass. During the years when the Aiel allowed the Cairhienin to trade with Shara, it was prosperous, but since the Aiel War, this has not been the case (TFoH, Ch. 20). Rand follows the Shaido out of the Waste to find they have already attacked the town - killing, stealing and making gai'shain of the villagers and leaving dead bodies hanging from the walls as a warning to Rand. Before this, they had not seen Aiel in a long time (TFoH, Ch. 20).
