Wheel of Time

I found Wheel of Time when I was thirteen years old. My family was visiting my aunt and uncle, and my uncle could tell I was bored. I was a famously greedy reader in the family, so my Uncle Tony handed me a battered, blue book. "Give this a try," he said. The rest was history!

Of course, the first portion of Eye of the World can be tedious (I always trudge through the chapter where Rand is pulling Tam through the woods) but it checked off a lot of boxes for me. Before that, I had only read young adult-level fantasy and science fiction, so Wheel of Time was my first exposure to true high fantasy. For the next five years, I would painstakingly write everything down in a notebook - Old Tongue, prophecies, characters, etc. Until Destiny intervened, that is.

Favorite WoT Book

I can'te decide between The Fires of Heaven and A Memory of Light. The Fires of Heaven is when everything changes, it's a really pivotal book in the series. A Memory of Light is exactly as epic as I was hoping Tarmon Gai'don would be. So with an effort to avoid spoilers, I will leave it at that.

Least Favorite WoT Book

Crossroads of Twilight is my least favorite book. If you're on a roll and read this book immediately (and quickly) between Winter's Heart and Knife of Dreams, it isn't too bad. But otherwise, it's painful to get though. Despite that, it really does set up a lot of plot points.

This is continued from above! While I was trying to catalogue and keep track of all of the various Old Tongue translations, prophecies, etc., a thought came to me. "I can't be the only one doing this!" So I decided to search online at school. I had been raised under a rock, and didn't even know the internet existed until I started high school. I found our glorious Library! I poked through everything for several months, and eventually joined Tarvalon.net in April of 2005.
