Welcome back to the [https://www.tarvalon.net/index.php TarValon.Net] Library Resources series. Our previous Editor, [[Atarah al'Norahn]] began this series back in 2019. Today we continue this tradition by sharing with you the TarValon.Net Library Resources for (and about) Novices & Recruits.

When Citizens [[MM:_Citizens#Tower_Membership|apply to join the Tower]], they must choose between becoming a [[MM:_Novices_and_Recruits#What_is_a_Novice.2FRecruit.3F|Novice or a Recruit]]. TarValon.Net does not apply any restrictions to either path and encourages all members to choose whichever they are more comfortable with. The [[MM: Novices and Recruits|Membership Manual]] for Novices and Recruits contains a wealth of information. The Membership Administrator for Novices and Recruits is the [[Master/Mistress of Novices and Recruits]]. They are the first port of call for any and all questions that new Tower members may have. The current Mistress of Novices and Recruits is [[Qamra Daielin]]. Upon joining the Tower, Novices and Recruits will be assigned two [[MM: Mentorship|Mentors]]! Where possible there will be one from each path ([[MM: Senior Members|an Aes Sedai and a Gaidin]]) who will guide and support the member through their raising to Accepted/Soldier then Aes Sedai/Gaidin. For more information about the next step towards Senior Membership refer to the “[[MM:_Novices_and_Recruits#The_next_level_of_Community_Membership|next step]]” section in the Membership Manual.

If you’d like some more canon information about Novices in The Wheel of Time the [[Tar Valon Library Index - The Wheel of Time|TarValon.Net Library]], there is an article with everything you could ever want to know about [[Novices]]. There you can find out about the training which Novices undertake as well as information about punishments, classes, their quarters, fun and pranks. For those who would like more information about the [[Novice Dress]], there’s an article for that too. You can even follow the pattern to make your own! There is also a full list of all the characters ever to become [[Novice Character List|Novices]].

 

As with the Soldiers there is no direct counterpart to our Recruit rank in The Wheel of Time series however you can see a character list of [[Youngling Character List|younglings]] those who came to the Tower seeking to become [[Warder|Gaidin]] to an [[Aes Sedai]].
